I think i took the pic of fully dry hazed wax. and this one is turtle wax hardshell. it looks more as applied as far i experiment on it.

P.S>>> this is my personal lancer so don't worry of cost and material effect.

why not move to a better wax, hardshell is very difficult to apply thin and buffing it makes you a body builder

Ive been here and as a silent member for a while and a few people know me as well i guess.

I appreciate the detailing spirit and enthusiasm this thread has genereated and mostly the credit goes to Vague and obviously everyone else who is present and has been contributing.

Though i feel the competition (which i think is not there on a concious level and for the most part is very healthy) slightly becomes negative for the entry level users

Il try along with V1 to clear misconceptions which i keep on seeing repeatedly.

But a few things I did notice were the following:

-that sponge, loose it asap bro. It causes unimaginable damage to the clear coat. A clean cloth would be better than this, best option being the wash mitt, as momin suggested.

-I might be a bit wrong on this one, but I think the wax u used was a synthetic one. bro, synthetic waxes are dry, u need a natural wax to seal off the paint, for a more wet, glossy look, softer touch etc.

1. The sponge does alot less damage if its cleaned even in clean water 3 or 4 times. It releases dirt and grime alot faster and if properly soaked before cleaning is quite the same as a normal used terry cloth.

2. Ive never heard a syn wax being a dry wax. Plus you almost ALWAYS seal of with a synthetic. They are the most durable ones. NXT, wolfgang sealant etc are all synthetic formulas. yes you might be able to acheive a more softer and warmer feel on dark cars with a carnauba.

Most sythetics if applied properly will give a MUCH greater glossy/slick look than a carnauba. A great example of a simple product is the mothers reflections series. Use the high gloss polymer wax and the top coat and the results are insane ! The problem with mothers products in general is that they dont last too long in out enviornment. Dust most likely.

Leave the waxed car over night and u can apply another thin coat the next morning. The shine and reflection clarity will multiply.

Leaving a car with wax over night almost serves no purpose. Infact it can do more harm espeically because the wax would get really hard with all the moisture getting absorbed. What you might be trying to refer is the curing time which helps the wax bond to the paint.

Usually the wax needs about 20 mins in dry climates and places like karachi where the humidity is higher about 35 - 40 mins, maybe an hour to haze/dry off. No matter how thin the wax coat is you will remove 99.8% of the total wax applied. The little that remains is all that is needed. That is the wax that has loosely bonded and stays on the paint.

Most maufactures recommend a 12 hour curing time for the wax to bond well with the paint. So waxing and removing the wax and then allowing the car to cure is usually the way to go. Once the curing time is over that is usually overnight, you can go ahead and apply a second coat and repeat the procedure and apply multiple coats if you want. A process usually refered to as layering. What I have seen is that the results for the forst 3 coats yield very good results with marked improvement almost each time. After 3, each coat that goes on the difference decreases in magnitude. I honestly dont feel its feasible with the amount of time and effort to g beyond 3, unless you are using a DA, but at that point 3 coats on DA usually gives very very good results.

So just a summary this is how it goes.

Apply wax --> let it stand for almost an hour --> Buff the wax off --> allow a curing period of 12 hours --> apply the next coat of wax.

keep repeating the cycle.

Please do not suggest others if you do not have complete knowledge of the matter.
I think there should be authorised members who can advise others on complicated matters as it is a great responsibility. There is not enough room to play with the paint of car withour proper know-how.

Yes bro, u got it perfectly write, actually i did feel it to some extent that I have written it un clearly. I meant that wax the car, allow it to haze, buff it off with light hand, leave the car overnight and then in the morning, apply another coat.

leaving wax without buffing in ANY part of Pakistan, is IMO, the best invitation for swirls as dust/sand will stick to the wax in no time unless its a sealed garage, which is very less likely. Buff it and you'll have a load of swirls.

as for layering, yes, I myself have felt the same. After 3 or 4 proper coats of any wax, we should give a wash n wax session. Cz after that, the increase in depth and reflections is hardly noticeable.

Why did I write the points like that, here it goes:

1: I noticed that the dude wasn't using a proper two bucket system for washing. Dip the sponge in shampoo, rinse the car, dip it back again, all the dirt is in the shampoo. As a consequence, dirt rubs all over the paint. the sponge indeed releases dirt easily as its got almost nothing for the dirt to stick to for long.

2: Our dear bro ahmad yar told me once that synthetic wax (ref being turtle ice at that time) is kind of dry and I need to use a natural one, like tutle metallic wax (blue pack wali) for soft touch and a glossy feel.

regarding sealing off, I remember Zunny bhai posting the detailing job on his black corolla. He mentioned like "Shampooed it with ICE and topped off with carnauba"
This made the concept in my mind that for topping off, we need a carnauba/natural wax.
I noticed the dude applied only platinum on the car, believing its a synthetic formula. But ahmad yar bro clarified that its a hybrid formula so we need not applying a carnauba over it necessarily.

These were the small mis conceptions in my mind, which thankfully, are clear now. If any other new bros has these, clarify for future references bro.

and how did you proceed it.

Jugno bro, as I mentioned in the post, it took me around 45 minutes for the job.

I used normal temperature fresh water on cool car surface to rinse the dirt off. Didn't use any detergent. Waiting for my first detailing kit, will use the shampoos enclosed therein, inshAllah.

As the car was properly waxed, so dirt didn't take much effort to go off. Then patted the car with a clean dry cloth. And then applied a thin coat of wax.

Left it for a while and I went over to the glass and plastic parts. After the wax had hazed, buffed it off with a slightly damp cloth with light pressure and whoalla. All done.

you wish to clerify some of misconceptions from v1 , sure i am not expert like him but would love to share my thoughts which learnt over the years and by using differnt waxes etc

sure the soft sponge works good as fawad bahi clerify provided use 2 bucket methoed other wise it will start secrating or making swrils on car skin

may be fawad bahi didnt elaborate properly his meaning, he meant synthetic waxes countinus use feel like car skin dry compare to natural waxes, i 100% agree with him and u can test ur self this theory.

carnauba waxes transforms from the palm tree ( specific name copernica cerifera in brasil ) this wax breathable so it doesnt sit on car paint surface , it transforms the paint into deep so creat rich, warm, liquid pool with baby soft touch skin , in simple words i would say its moisturize the car skin but on other hand synth wax 100% man made , its made of polymers which are composed of tens of thousands of synthetic particals that are linked togather, purpose of sealent is protection instead of beauty and usualy applied under natural wax ( here in pakistan dust conditions many of detailers do vic versa i,e first natural wax and than apply syh for protection from dust etc ) since syn waxes are not breathable so they give hard shell type finish and protection , its not give warm carnauba that seems to melt into the paint. these syn waxes sit on paint and gives transparent look, yes its give watery, sleek look but in touch its relitively dry than natural wax, u will not get soft baby skin touch , lack of wet touch etc

i personaly experince on my white alto with countinus use of syn wax and in the end i found car skin lost its soft touch so i personaly favour natural waxes to keep alive skin , yes for protection u should use syn wax as well but countinus sue of syn without natural combination give u dry touch to car skin.

there are 2 theories , most people do what u saying, but here some of people including me applied gc and dodo juice with over night methoed and satisfied, both waxes having lot of oils and juices so need more time for penitration than other waxes, further we cover tha car after wax application and in morning we buffout with fresh damp m/f with detailer spray, its not only help to buffout softly but also help to fill many of swrils and secratches

yes agree 12 hour curing time between next layer produce best results and also agree 3 layers are good enough as in further layering u will start loosing transprecy , clear look in paint and start getting coverd and even dull look.

for the spots, try clay bar, or a cleaner wax ....FOR THE LOVE OF DETAILING DO NOT KAAAMPOOND PAALAASSH a car for such small things! If you must then do it only to the affected area.....as alraedy mentioned, royal shield has been discussed already many many many times here.....just search thread it !

Thanks for the reply. I gathered some courage and used the Billoxi machine (that I picked from Metro) and Cartec polish (if I am remembering right) and spots were gone. I enjoyed doing this

bhai jaan beshak gari apni ho magar product to utna use kerna chahye na jitna useful ho its not only about getting more out of the product , its about getting the best of out the product, your own car or any one else

there are some waxes which do not spare you if you apply them wrong

Well DC bros, gave my car a quickie today. I was kind of in a hurry as when I realized my car is dirty, it was a bit late. I was almost out of time. But still, I managed to do something on it.

Yesterday's rain was all over it, a 'before' picture enclosed. Just two pics after the detail, just before I took it out of the haveli, cz I was REAL late by then. But after the process, I went straight in for a shower and when i saw the car, I was like (H). Chaa gya bachay.

Gave it a thorough wash, applied a thin coat of cosmic, cleaned glass wd Glint, and treated all plastic parts with STP. Took me 45 mins only...

and dear bros, do tell me the flaws in the process. Pardon the scratched and misaligned bumpers as motorcyclists hate this car to death. :S:S

every wax either natural or synth having sealing ability, just in synth u can get sealent for longer time than natural wax, this is sealent in natural wax which give tough time to water on car surface in shape of water beadings.

once i done s500 merc with usman bhai and after glazing we sealed it with dodo juice wax which is natural wax and not synth:)

Topping off can be done with anything and evrything that you want. I top off with 3 differnt products usually. One natural and 2 synthetic. Topping off is actually a slang meaning just what you apply in the loosest of definition. There are no strings attached to it. About being wet or dry Il elaborate it with more reference.

Bro i use Hardshell b'coz it is effective and economical.. Also i used this in my basic package in my detailing packages.

Why the detailer car is so dusty?
Well it is due to my office business and the storm which came in Faisalabad very commonly after harvesting of wheat fields. Which are around the Faisalabad

That sponge is came in turtle wax platinum kit and i am satisfied with its cleaning. When it will be dirty i will throw it my self
