the fender was first cleaned with turtle ice liquid clay , turtle clay with mothers detailer spray, #26 as glaze (advised by Amir bhai) and then #26 as the lsp. the panel had a great gloss, no swirls and was giving better reflections than the rest of the car. the wax glazing also revved up the smoothness. i lowered the camera's exposure to catch the reflections as lacking depth silver shows very little reflections in the sun

i am working at a rate of one panel a day due to time constraints

Can anyone help me with a query . What is the difference between a sealer like mothers step 2(sealer and glaze) and a sealant like Autofinesse tough coat. And when they have to be applied(before applying wax or afterwards).

mothers step 2 is used to fill in minor imperfections like swirls before a wax is applied, it does nothing to protect the surface. sealants on the other hand are like synthetic waxes on steroids, they offer long lasting protection but like synthetic waxes they rarely have the depth of a carnauba wax, though they do offer good gloss

much of talk is now going on these days regarding Meguirs Hitech wax # 26. I read on site that it has natural carnauba wax with polymers and silicone. So my guess is that this is a mixture of natural and synthetic wax. Sometimes we layer a natural wax over synthetic to give a car much durable and greater depth and shine. So if we only use #26 then we dont have to use any layering of synthetic wax or not?
(Or we still require a layer of synthetic wax before #26)

Though u've asked Experts to reply ur query, but i hope u and experts out there wont mind if a novice like me dare to reply

Basic and primary purpose of both (Waxes & sealants) is same, i.e to provide protection alongwith beauty.

To put it simple i explain each separately:

Waxes
A Carnauba Wax (finishing wax) offers no cleaning ability with the focus on maximizing beauty with the protection based upon naturally occurring ingredients (Carnauba).

Sealants
A Sealant (finishing sealant) offers no cleaning ability with the focus on maximizing beauty with the protection based upon synthetic ingredients (Man-made synthetic polymerization).

Hybrids
There is one more group into which waxes and sealant fall into and that would be the hybrid category. Hybrids contain a combination of both natural and synthetic ingredients.

Waxes are made Hybrid to increase durability/longevity and protection.
Whereas sealants are made hybrid in order to bring that particular carnauba type warmth and look.

Now its user's choice as to how often he waxes his ride depending on the weather/climatic conditions and his Obssession to detail

As far as layering is concerned, there is no harm in layering sealant over sealant, or wax over sealant; As long as the final layer is a finishing (having no cleaning agents) LSP. By the way, Meguiar's #26 is a Hybrid finishing Wax.

well now that you already started the discussion imranhakro i want to add my two cents. #26 is a pure wax, gc and nxt are not, this means that there are no cleaning agents at all (i am not saying negligible, that is applicable for gc and nxt). this has a disadvantage i.e your surface prep plays a much greater role in the end results as the wax can only coat the surface and give oils. but this also means that layering will be much more effective as a greater part of the previous coat of wax remains on the car, the only aggressiveness in this case may come from the application pad.

This is not the disadvantage of a Finishing wax / pure wax.....Why anyone on this earth would use a pure wax for surface prep after all?

There are numerous products out there for doing surface prep.

But yes, Jis context mein aap baat ker rahey hain, in that case Cleaner wax + Finishing wax Makes sense. Inverse of this is obviously insane.

correction to all about meg 26# i have been using this wax since 2007 thats why i have a liitle more experince then u guys which v1 agrees with me before applying meguiars u have to applicate meguiars cleaner wax 2 coats and the gap between each coat would be at least 2 hours after the second applicate give gap of 24 hours then apply 26 it will give the depth , gloss and will seal the paint for atleast a month ( if applied properly and buffed out properly ) p.s no arguging if u have to argue do it on pm mods are requested to keep an eye on the threadand no off topic replies off topic replies shall be deleted mods are requested to do so
