Car Documents missing or kept by Excise

i am in UAE now a days. I want to sell my Suzuki Alto(2020) model. At the time of registration all the documents were kept by EXCISE LAHORE and issued me the SMART CARD. At that time i asked them that why you kept my file they replied that this SMART CARD is equal to FILE.

i am confused what to do. is this right....any suggestions

Generally Punjab excise keeps records of vehicle with them also but original file is returned to owner.

In case the original file is lost by owner, then they issue the duplicate file from the documents which are available in their records.

Having smart card is good. But having original file of the vehicle is also equally important.

i called to one of the excise agents i know. He said excise keeps the records (since they have to scan all the file and save in computer) and later they return it to the owner.
so if have not received your original file back, you can come in person or you can hire some trusted agent and he will receive it.
