Stay away from imported cars unless you have the cash to pay for high replacement body parts. If you're confident in your driving abilities and 100% sure you'll get away from a major accident, then go for it. Otherwise, stay local.
In this price range and cc you can buy Wagon R and Cultus( cultus gives better mileage
For sedans you can also get Corolla and City.
I'd prefer city as if you get 1.3 manual it gives great mileage in city of 14-15 km/l, though you can go for corolla if you prefer.
You can also save even more money and go for 10 + years old used cars and get older versions of corolla, city and civic for maximum 11 lakhs. Most of these in the market are restored to perfect condition (both engine and body wise), and would be a better bang for your buck
You can call in pakwheels or olx inspection teams and get the cars checked.
