[QUOTE=cardinal;2701640]Guys, I am in the market for getting my car insured. I recently acquired a new Honda Civic 1.8 (2011) in Lahore.
However, I have heard some pretty horrible things about the way insurance companies operate in Pakistan and the way they deal with their customers in the event a claim is filed. I first wanted to get your input in the matter.
Bro its because of the way ppl treated insurance companies, fake claims and things like tht made companies that harsh.. Literally every company would do this initially, but if you are fair in dealing over time, they will assist you like no other, thats my experience.. I get all my cars insured with askari now and they dont do any trick wid me now..

Can people name any reliable companies which they have personally dealt with in the past/are presently dealing with who deliver on their promises/honor their contracts? I am specifically aiming to blacklisting companies who fail to deliver in case a customer files for a claim and is given all sorts of reasons by the company to wriggle out of their obligations. Hopefully, by the time we are done with this thread, we'll have two list of companies operating in Pakistan: the good ones and the (supposedly) bad ones.
NJI,EFU< ADAMJEE are the good ones in adition to Askari insurance, and most importantly you should avoid small companies, they dnt have good workshops and claim processes... Too much trouble
The Honda City Sales folks in Lahore listed all sorts of calamities where the vehicle's insurance would still be valid including: terrorism, fire, a bunch of natural disasters in addition to theft, accidents, etc. I was under the impression that fire, earthquake, flood, etc, are never covered by an insurance plan. Am I being shown pastures greener than they actually are? Please comment.
Thats true, my comprehensive policy from Askari Insurance covers all these and some more even..
The rates quoted by the City Sales dealership are somewhat reasonable. It's a flat rate of 3% per annum. This boils down to around Rs. 51,000 of insurance premium for my Civic. The underwriter is going to be either IGI Pakistan or United Insurance. Another PWer Rashid81 quoted the same rates to me in a private chat some days ago. Do you guys know of any better insurance deals/rates?
Go for better companies, they will offer the same rates i guess
Basically, the biggest risk that the people driving this car are going to be subjecting it to is the risk of snatching at gun point, robbery, theft etc. Is there an option available to just get the car insured against only these risk or not? I know this is possible in foreign markets but am not sure about it being available here in Pakistan.
I am not a fan of trackers, etc at all, as I have very good knowledge of the network on which they operate and the ease with which they can be disabled/jammed. Do insurance companies mandate the installation of a tracker in the car before they can insure it?
No tracker is not compulsory in my experience, i just have one car with tracker
Does the car have to be registered first with the relevant motor registration authority for the insurance coverage to kick in or can I continue to enjoy coverage while my application for registration is being processed at the MRA Lahore?
Its advisable to get car registered as soon as possible, insurance procedure can be undertaken before that even..
