Car meter Reverse

Hi I bought 2021 model Grande 2 of my mechanics check car and paint condition is totally fine and genuine car exterior condition is 9 / 10 interior is 9.5 / 10 but one thing is disturbing me when i go to toyota workshop for service and tunning i give them a car number and they asked me mileage i said 41 k they said “ last service to apki 60k ph hoi or wo b oct 23 mein “ phr us din se le k mein 4 se 5 top k mechanics k ps gya lahore mein sb ne yhi kaha k meter to bilkul geniune lag raha apka condition or drive wise tyre b asa hain jese 45 50 k chalay hon so expert please opinion dein mje k kya waja ho skti or agar meter tempered ha to kya yh meri mental state k ilawa car ph to koi effect ni ho ga

unfortunately meter reverse is common
and pretty hard to judge in a newer car
khair only 20-30,000 km reverse which is nothing
idhar log 2-3 lac km b meter reverse martay hain (unfortunately)

if such minor stuff disturbs your sleep and peace
buy a new car next time

Its fairly simple, go to people who do meter reverse, they will easily tell you if its been done or not

The impacts would be:

1) Brakes would need inspection as they might have completed their life.
2) Assuming car is 70k driven, fuel pump, spark plugs, brake fluid and coolant are nearing their end of life.
3) When you will go to sale this car you may get an offer according to the real mileage in case you decide to be fair.

All in all, you have paid extra money for additional 30k worth of mileage and potential maintenance that comes along with.

I still cant comprehend the reason behind going for haram by the b*st**ds just for an extra Rs.50k or Rs.100K at max.

I don't have any plan to sell at-least for next 3 months so which services do you recommend for this car to sleep and travel peacfully

the dealership you initially went on
has this cars maintenance record in hand
its best to consult them on what was done and when was the next service due on this car.

In BMW cars, (I have owned 2 of them) the milage is recorded in various modules and key fob. If there is a mismatch of milage between these, it can be found using a BMW diagnoses tool. I guess your car may not be as sophisticated. But even in the BMW, those with the right tools can circumvent this too.

Reversing meter is considered as an art in PK while it’s a straight CRIME in many other countries

So far i’ve bought nearly 10 used vehicles. Neither of them was with its original mileage. All of them were meter reversed.

Well technically it seems meter is reversed only 15-20k Km. Shukar kernay wali baat yeh hey kay oss nay total reading 15K km nai ker di:grinning:

However, since you have bought the vehicle, so just drive it and enjoy it rather then getting worried that how many partners it has before

BTW, check the color of ATF. If its slightly black or burnt smell, then its sure meter is reversed

And if its ATF is absolutely fresh red, then its also confirmed that meter is reversed. Because after reversing the meter he changed the ATF too

Which means ATF shouldn't be checked because it won't prove anything?

Generally when we buy the used vehicle, then we change all its fluids as per our satisfaction. Even you buy the car from a person like me who takes care of all auto fluids very seriously, even then you will change them as per your satisfaction. This is something normal/common and most of us likes to do.

Suppose you buy car from an unknown. You check its Engine oil and it seems fresh. Then the first question comes to mind, maybe he is using some cheap 3rd class oil. So better have it change before it brings any harm to engine. So you go to oil shop and change the motor oil and fill the fresh oil of your choice. Yes? Yes….. because it gives us satisfaction.

Similarly same situation applies to other fluids also.

Which means technically its not good to take the vehicle to meter expert and ask them to check if the meter is reversed or not. Because they have to open it again which is not very advise-able. Right?

Because whenever they open meter/cluster, then most of the times its tiny plastic clips/knobs/hooks/knucles breaks while opening or while closing it back. And hence to solve one issue, it brings two other new issues
