Car Repair Frustration

Went to a mechanic in G7 Islamabad. With a light leakage in the engine and tuning works.

The mechanic opened the engine cover, glued the gasket, changed the spark plugs (which every mechanic does each time i go for tuning, i think they have no idea how spark plugs are diagnosed) and did some tuning.

After a day, car engine checklight showed, and the car didint go above 3rd gear (vitz 99 model). Also leakage didnt stop

Went to the mechanic again. He changed 2-3 sensors in the engine. Fixed the gear and suggested leakage is in the head gasket.

A day later. Started the car and it was missing the race so much.

Summary: I took a running car to the mechanic and came home with a faulty gear, faulty plugs and jerks and missing car.

What am i doing wrong here?

You are not going to a professional mechanic.

Get the car checked thoroughly from a trusted and reliable mechanic.

There's a guy in pindi. Mansoor. You can Google mansoor efi and you'll get the address. Just be aware there's some construction going on in that area so it's best to give him a call before going there. Has a YouTube channel too and I've found him to be really good

Else, you can go to the two known members on here who have shops in islamabad/pindi

What else he will do if the op continues to follow his advisory

On many old 1sz the compression is almost low despite they don't consume engine oil. Yet they prompt the symptoms of poor fuel economy and performances.

Every competent workshop will have a bad review once in a while by some dude who was expecting to spend 2-3k for a task that would normally cost 10-15k to get it done right. That's obviously his comparison marker because he's been going to road side ustaads. The individuals/shops mentioned here as recommendations are from personal experience. rajaatta and dani_kk are members here so you can always raise your concerns here too.

Otherwise, you can always go the DIY way, learn everything about the car and do it yourself. No one's going to suggest a bad workshop on here to further ruin your car. Visit the workshop of your choice from the mentioned spots, take your pick.

Imagine the reviews your mechanic would have, the one who's ruined your car. If you think 4+ ratings for the better workshops is a bad thing, this g7 ustaad would be going the opposite way lol

Yes exactly we are all with bad reviews. Our dear brother can find someone with better reviews. I've already said find someone with good reviews and high success rate while solving such critical problems. It's his personal choice to decide. Cheers

Recently was working on a 1sz of a friends car which has bad compression and worned off camshafts.
Finding new parts like Cam shafts etc are too difficult and expensive in pakistan.
So my friend decided to give a chance to local scrap market for a swap.
Till now replaced 15 good engines and all have low compression plus severe oil consumption.
And guess the price for head assembly it was around 230 +

So in the end by wasting a good amount on oil labors etc.
I recommended him to chooses a good overall condition engine from those scrapies Japanese engine and rebuild it.
And yes it is performing well but with a lot of cost.
That's why old vehicle until it's running is good else if you need perfection then don't expect a miracle to happen in cheapest form.
