Car RPM drops to zero while driving

Hi,
I have a 2004 GLi running on petrol since beginning. I have never faced any problem with this car but in the recent past it happened to me sometimes while driving that when I slow down my car even on highway and press the clutch, the rpm suddenly goes down to zero and the car turns off. It doesn't happen every time i press the clutch but it is very annoying and dangerous at the same time.
I hope that anybody here would be able to tell me the possible problem with my car, i tried Hi-Octane fuel as well but the result remained the same. The fuel filter and spark plugs were changed at 50k mileage and now it is 70k.

Simply get the throttle body serviced bro..it will be fine again.

My car has the same problem (1997 Honda Civic Vti). I have gotten its throttle body first serviced, then replaced, but the problem persisted. It has got something to do with the ECU or sensors etc. I haven't been able to find a good guy in Islamabad to get my car checked on computer and fix it. I tried Garage Master at Fire Brigade, but those people are useless. If anybody knows of a reliable computer tune-up station in Islamabad, please share it here.

I removed the battery terminals to reset the ECU and after that the car is running pretty smooth, the problem didn't occur again!!!

good to hear that car is normal but still if you haven't serviced the throttle body its better to do it now.

Throttle body has a sensor which controls idling. It must be serviced after 50000

the car remained fine for around 3 months but then i started to face the problem again, even resetting the ecu didn't solve the problem. took the car to toyota, they checked the sensors which were all working fine, in the end they just cleaned the throttle body using WD40 and now the car is good as new.

I got throtle body service several times..its donw by carburetor sprsy..wd 40 will cause issues and it does not get epavorated easily
