@ daaf, brother first read / study on ABS on net and I am sure you will change your mind, another easy task drive non-ABS and ABS vehicle and apply brakes on same speed and you feel difference.

By the way I told you what ABS without going into technical details, as this topic was not related to ABS. if u disagree tell what ABS is in your mind instead of Assigning tasks,
To tell you one more thing it is not a guarantee that ABS brakes will behave better than non ABS brakes under all conditions and all type of roads.
ABS does not even activate until certain speed.
Being my field I know much about ABS, but will always be happy to learn more.... whenever u explain.

The problem with Mehran is that as indicated its a Middle class Vehicle. The point to be noted here is that for Middle class features and design will not matter at all. They need a car which they can afford with respect to fuel economy and spare parts and Mehran is a safe bet for them. Now currently Mehran's price has gone up and gone up to the extent that now it is out of reach of Middle class. Because remember price change of just even 20-30K will effect their buying power and they may not be able to buy the car because of this price change. On the contrary the price change in bigger cars will not effect their buyers. because of the reason that they have got billions in their banks. So the the price change of like 200 to 300Ks will not effect their decision of buyng a car so they eventually will get it.

The increase of middle class vehicles has another effect of price hike of second hand cars. The customers of Mehran are now led to buy a second hand car. As they can buy a better bigger 2nd had car as compared to Mehran.

That's true. But you can not generalize that based on sales of 4000 odd corrolas a month, people in Rural areas are getting rich. It may just be a very small segment, comprising of rural landlords and current politicians and their family & relatives who are mainly buying corrolla on Govt expenditure ('fruits' of democracy!), from tax money paid by Pakistani salaried class.

On the first point, there is a shift because of totally unjustified price increase by Pak Suzuki on Mehran, Alto and Cultus during last couple of years. Toyota introduced a new model and shape, new technology and hence justified its price increase. Mehran, Alto and Cultus have same shape, yet their prices have increased by 2-4 lacs. The outcome is simple. They lost market share. Pak Suzuki has to reduce its prices I believe to recapture market share and generate healthy sales/profits. Sales of mehran especially can jump manifold just by reducing the price by 20%.

you all pakwheelers like and love honda but toyota is better than honda and pak suzuki.Its better because of a big shape,best resale value ,luxurious inteior than city and liana and in comparison to honda civic and its drive more comfortable than city and civic both.I have driven gli,city and civic but i felt that corolla is most comfortable of all because of strong suspensions and soft seats.

i havent say that resale is the most important factor for the sales i say that big shape and comfortable ride are also the factors.

I hav driven and Kept most if not all (including the diesel variants) of Local Assembeld Sedans. there is noway anyone who hav little sense of driving would say that a Indus Corolla DRIVES better than Atlas Honda Civic/city.

Corolla has its advantage of of having higher road clearence when driving on unpaved roads, but then again this becomes a Big disadvantage when driving on motorway (high speed), as it tends to float rather than Drive.

For driving experience a local civic is far superior when comapred with Altis.

and Yes, corolla (Xli and Gli) has better resale. and resale is better because there r enough idiots in market ready to buy an underpower, unsafe USED car for much more than its Worth.

Infact mr, you are proving to be the biggest toyota fanatic. Atleast hondas have COMPANY FITTED BRAKES, Hondas donnot ACCELERATE without intending them too. Hondas donnot drift out of their lanes on the highway.
But if we talk about INDUS ROLLA! and keeping in mind your GLI which is made out of CARBON FIBRE body, COCONUT and SHEESHAM dashboard plus with I-DRIVE control system, here are few things to look upon!

1) You claim it not be underpowered? do u know the term power/thrust to weight ratio?? Try having a drag race with a cultus or a santro. You wont be even able to read its number plate in 0-120kph run. Let alone comparing it with a swift.

2) On the motorway, I CHALLENGE you to take your car ABOVE 170 that too on PETROL! Even if u manage to take it then iam sure your Toyota Corolla GLi AMG Black wont be able come back home.

Lastly, donnot compare Altis with civic, these both cars have Pros and Cons.
Altis has the only the thing which civic lacks n that is cruise control which a person uses once in an year that too we have to disengage it on the motorway since cars like Mehran are still doint doing 80 or 100 on the motorway. UAE and KSA are examples where 100s of cars crash cuz of this cruise control. When people just engage it and put their feet here and there and get relax while doing 130+.

Where as civic has 5 gears, DUAL airbags, MORE POWERFUL ENGINE, MORE FUEL ECNOMICAL ENGINE, SPORTS LOOKS, more AERODYNAMIC body along with bucket seats unlike ROLLA which has something else. And yes iam not mentioning things like reactable door mirrors, immobolizer and other built in goodies which altis donnot even stands a chance!

So you better be aware then praising your own GLi to be an AMG.

there's reason of corolla being on the top...its new model has just came out a year back...while civic's came in august of 2006....it has seen its boom...now its sale would obviously on decline..the other factor is...there's a buzz on civic face lift....while the Rolla is just gettin started....so right now corolla is a cash cow ryt now...cheers to rolla owners....

lets not just begin a useless corolla vs civic debate here.. the point is that this cow is being sold in such high numbers that the collective figures of all suzukis & hondas are just 1.26 times more than the corolla! even the older corollas or civic or any other newly launched car never sold out in such huge numbers..

Dude...u literally nailed it...i believe even new altis is underpowered as compare to civic...Altis can never run away from Civic...even if honda's behind...it can reach rolla widout even a competition....im not a honda fanatic but believe Civic is better than any Corolla variant....i was totally disappointed to see new corolla has no built quality...they ruined car to cut costs....

I agree with you but still Altis is a nice car to buy if one has to drive nicely especially like UNCLES. But if one wants the ENJOY the car, ALTIS is a pathetic choice and CIVIC is the BEST choice available [P.S In Pakistan]
