Car starting and Ignition problem

Hi guys, I have Mitsubishi EK wagon 2007 660cc automatic transmission. Since a month or so I am having this issue. I took my car to various thugs i mean mechanics but my problem is not going anyway.

The problem is, when i try to start the engine, car doesn't get sulff/sluff or whatever, I changed battery, I serviced the key area and switch yet it doesn't get ignited.

I have to do gear shifting here and there, D, N, D2, P etc then after 20, 30 tries engine starts. Nobody is solving this issue and everybody is eating up my hard earned money.

A mechanic told that my car's gear box is done and i have to replace it.

Can somebody tell me the real solution?

Do you mean that there is no engine turnover when you press button to start engine?

automatic transmission car will not start if it does not detect that it is in "N" or "P" could be the problem with ecu or the switches behind the gear shifter they might not be sending signal that the transmission is in "N" or "P" causing the car not to start

@makniazi brother you seem to make sense to me. How do I check this? Any mechanic in your knowledge to solve the issue?

find a decent electrician he can check it out for you it is an electric fault do not go to a road side electrician find some who knows what he is doing no hit and trail as one wrong connection can mess up things for you as ecus' are sensitive and can be damaged by wrong connections a quick check what is the status of gear indication in the speedometer when the car is in "P" and does not crank

@makniazi P seems to be P when I revolve the key in switch however during driving I noticed that the gear indication on speedometer vanishes like speedometer shows in which gear I am driving like D or D2 but sometimes it doesn't show anything at all yet car runs as it is. Just the indication disappears, I shift gear and it starts appearing again.

Any good electrician you could refer to?

i am sure the issue is the shifter as it is not sending proper signals to ecu well i am in Peshawar what is your location
