Shouldn't they be verifying the filers from FBR list published on their website. I mean anyone can print a fake income tax return or ntn certificate by just using photoshop. How are they verifying it?

I dont know about the list by fbr, but if there exists any list, then who bothers here to check that, we, ourseoves have to provide same docs over and over again.may be after getting return,they counter check online.u better give it a try.

So... last year paid Rs3348 for my Axio (ISB registered) and this time paid around Rs9348.

This is getting annoying now, how do I get myself registered as a tax-payer? is it totally online based or I've to visit some office to get registered? I've currently no income, since I don't have a job so I will be filing 0 returns.

U have to pay tax to get filer status, 1st get ntn no from excise office, submit i cone tax return then.

I think they have active tax payer list on their computers.the list updates 15th day of every month.

U have to pay tax to get filer status, 1st get ntn no from excise office, submit i cone tax return then.

Noo..u have to submit tax returns to get filer status and from 1st July cnic number is ntn number.

If u earn les then 400k then u r exempted from paying tex but u have to submit returns to fbr.

Well as you said you re not a registered tax-payer so this time it's on your behalf.
Now it's you who has to decide whether you want to be a registered tax-payer and avail these so-called rebates or you leave it as such.
For registering, it's an online procedure for everyone (salaried/businessmen etc). If you get stucked somewhere, the helpline is effective and helps at any step u get stucked.

Once registered, you will (once) have to collect your NTN-certificate from the concerned RTO (they will notify also, thru email).

And once registered, you will be required to furnish your income details and expenses to reconcile your assets every year.

As you re not paying any tax at the moment, at your income you earn from business, so that would be ( for sure) much more than the rebates you get but that is how it's supposed to be.

I am talking about punjab. And as fir as my knowledge. Return is submitted only those who pay tax.as when my salary was lower to limit, i didnt pay tax nor return, but now i do.it was news that from july, cnic is ntn no but till now,its not implemented bcz i log on to fbr from my ntn no still.nir i got any email.from fbr regatding this.

Also keep in mind that if you earn less, you should have the assets accordingly or a valid justification for every asset you possess.

So it is not that simple to declare your income so less that you don't have to pay any tax and just file returns...

No, actually I am just finishing up from university (last year). Will do an internship this summer and job hunt next year [emoji14] So no income from any place atm.

Just so happens that I had to get the car registered on my name because dad was busy with office stuff so yeah...

Also I was told, one no longer has to have the NTN as CNIC would now act as the NTN.

Return for what?

U submit ur income details and source of income,u have to mention ur personal expenditure (utility bills school fees etc)that deducts from ur total income.
If u earn more then 400k then first u will deduct tax from it.

CNIC/NTN, that is just the reference number and the actual theme/procedure is the same.

They (FBR) accept/acknowledge cases like urs as well where a son gets a car regd. at his name that was actually presented by his father.
In that case your father has to be a registered tax-payer as per FBR requirement.

But unfortunately you re not eligible to get any tax rebates as the car is registered at ur name and u re not a tax-payer...

SO THE TOKEN TAX OF my Civic 97 Rs 6750 Only this year. One thing i want to ask one of my family friend has a se saloon 2004 model. He left Pakistan in 2006 leaving the car parked at his home. Can any body tell me what will be the amount of tax that he will have to pay as he wants to sell the car now.And what will be the procedure any fines ?
