If you know somebody in Karachi, send your reg book by TCS.He will get it done from Karachi and sent the book back to you.And DO NOT pay your car tax in any other city of Pakistan like people do....Otherwise you have to repay all amount to Karachi Excise later at some stage.So only pay it in Karachi for a Karachi registered car.

And in general wherever the vehicle is registered pay its Token tax there to avoid complication and also get all transactions done from the same ETO Office like transfer and change of any particulars etc.....In NWFP and Punjab one can pay Token Tax and transfer vehicles in districts other than the registration city but even that is not a good practice and at some stage you have to be in trouble for doing that because of lack of coordination between ETO's of even same province and what to say then if you do transaction of a vehicle registered in one province in another province.I have seen such cases that is why m saying all that.

Yesterday I paid Token Tax for my cousin's coure 2009 Isd Registered.... Amount paid was (1098+102 Tax= 1200Rs).... I recently got registered my 2012 ALTO VXR ISD....got the registration in May-2012....Please somebody suggest, should I pay the token tax for my 2012-13 for my car as well >>>?

For Punjab, I heard all old cars (more than 10 years old) regardless of cc, will have the option of paying life-time token tax. It is in process and expected to be approved by July 31st. Initially, it was approved for cars upto 1000cc only? Can anyone confirm? Apparently, the token tax for even old cars with engine 2500cc+ is PKR 10,000 .... which is insane ....

Can anyone tell me if the life time token is an optional thing. What if i dont want to pay life time token. Can i opt for it.

yes sir, i know the fact. I have paid my token tax last year fortunately i was on a tour to karachi...but this year, I am unable to go there as well as unable to find anybody there reliable enough. Though my engine is 1000 cc and my car is 20 years old so my token tax is only 500 Rs.

Now the problem is how do i pay this 500. Even i have heard that if someone know the engine number and chassis number and car number, he can pay the token tax and get receipt from the Civic Center, but jaye ga kon .... that's the problem. He can then send me the reciept and the screen sticker via TCS.

Btw its good practice to go yourself and queue in line and do your work yourself.

The crooks outside these offices are only there because of awam's susti.

Believe me, I went myself to Karachi for my car registration on my name, token paying, etc. when i first went to crooks outside Civic Center, some said 15000 some said 20,000 because my car's file was in excise office and it was apparently not on the place it should, but Shukar Alhamdolillah I tried the staircase at the end of Civic Center, went there, got receipt, waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes, got to the counter, show them everything, and they did it in just Rs. 5600. though they took two days to find the file and I gave Rs. 1000 to that person myself with my kushi who found the original file. So total was 6600. I got new book, my original file, token cleared till June 2012 from December 2010 and my screen sticker. Whatelse one would want. Everything legal and in front of your eyes. Drove my car back to Lahore with full confidence and nobody stopped me after checking my book and token tax cleared from Karachi to Lahore.

So my experience, there is nothing like khawari....its just our susti and nawabi.

i agree with you partially. reality is they have made the "system" so complicated and twisted, people would run away from it.obviously its a "system" in which money flows from public to the tout and to the people sitting inside these government offices.
car transfer in islamabad through tout would take 2 hours. and legal way they would make u run like a dawg and give u a return date of 10 days.

i think with fines and all you would be paying somewhere around 15-20,000 rupees .........dont pay ur token for couple of years more and u can hand over ur car to anyone for free

Ok, so now i can finally say the new life time token is ****. I have decided not to pay token, they can what ever the hell they want.

A friend was going to the excise and taxation office in Z block so i gave him my registration and Rs 7000 since i have paid two years token that is 1490 Rs * 2. He went there with his own car's book and two others of which one was mine. After waiting long hrs he finally reached the counter where he was redirected to the upper floor to fill some forms, attach the previous tokens and was also said that the car owner has to come himself or at least original id card is required so they would not process mine. Now this is BS, why do i have to go my self and only to excise and taxation office, is sey acha to post office token system tha.
Secondly the calculation will not be that if i paid rs 1490 per year for 2 years then i should subtract 1490 * 2 from
10000. Rather the consider Rs 600 as token so i have to pay Rs 8800 even if i paid Rs 1490 * 2 for 2 years. Now each year i get my advance income tax in these tokens adjusted, so as i see it if i pay Rs 8800 then i will be paying for next maybe 14 years.
How many percentage of people keep cars for 14 years.
Lastly this token tax is a tax / revenue that government generates each year. Will this govt. remain for 14 years, from what i know is they will put this money in their pockets and run and the next government will be deprived of this tax that they used to collect yearly.

Apna kaam khud hi karna chahiye na ?
I say it is a very good practice that the owner comes itself and pay the tax himself. It's kind of a personal matter. If you can use a car, you can also maintain it and pay its tax. Its maintenance.

Let me know if there is any office in Johar Town. I myself go to nearest post office every year for token then why should i travel all the way to z block or their main office this time :P, why it cannot be paid in post office. And i guess u did not read my last paragraph as well. First i got to GPO for my other car's token and then wait for hr in taxation office, i would again say that is B.S.

Paid token tax on 3rd July in post office----no long queue------I was the only person at that time to be there.

IF ur car was Punjab reg you would have had to pay rs 8250 i.e almost double the tax! lucky you i guess!!

Try to look for a reliable person outside Lahore Excise.These agents or whatsoever anybody call them have their links in other cities too and they send the papers by courier and get them back and you pay him accordingly.We have Karachi registered vehicles, but we send the papers to a person whom we know and he goes and pays the tax in the designated NBP branch and send us back the reg book.Sending Reg book by Courier is a risk but by the Grace of Allah no reg book is misplaced till now.

So try to look for somebody you know in Karachi or Try to look for an agent outside Lahore Excise through somebody who knows him.And get your work done.Or try through any member of Pakwheels in Karachi who can help you.And in the meantime I will also look for any source for you.

@star2 - the tax payment require book & last payment receipt, the staff stamp on Book with payment challan number & issue a computerised receipt which has complete details of payment, engine & chassis number name of owner of the car, date of registration and date of tax payment with next due date. since this involve original registration book you must ask someone trustworthy to handle it carefully for you in Karachi.

number of times I feel like extending a helping hand to troubled members outside Karachi with Karachi registered cars but financial aspect of it does not convince me to become involved & eat dung cake.
