Where do you live? First, you should have your car detailed. That includes serviceing, detailing the interior (spraying down seats and dashboard and applying a shine to them), claybaring the outside, compounding the body and finally waxing it. If a non-desi car wash is offering these than opt for it.
There's an automatic car wash that claim they do all this and uses Meguiars products, it's near Shoukat Khanam Lahore.
Now that your car is all shiny, for a beginer, you should only maintain it at home:
1.2 buckets and 2 grit gaurds
2. Any big brands car shampoo (Meguairs, Chemical guys, Turtlewax) make sure the shampoo is a wash and wax, or it saya it doesn't remove wax from the paint.
3. If you want, tyre gloss
4. Interior shiner, sometimes they are labelled as waxes or polishes.
5. A good wax. There are 2 types of waxes:
Carnauba- derived from a natural tree, gives a deep gloss, but doesn't last as long as:
Polymer wax or synthetic wax: artificially created in labs, doesn't shine as good as carbauba
There is also:
Hard wax: Lasts longer and easier to apply
Liquid wax: lasts only a month in my experience but shines ALOT
A good wax is determined by water beading, or how easily water floats off the paint.
Wax also protects against rust, sun damage, and corrosion ( from bird droppings )
You can get Meguairs hard wax, Formula 1 wax (decent budget product) or Collonite wax, which is pretty good. Go see @mjunaidit's thread about his grande.
A microfiber wash mitt, and at least 2 decent microfiber cloths.
Please don't go trying to compound at home, you can easily rip through the paint.
