Carburator or fuel pump fault?

hey fellas ,
i already stated in a seperate thread that my car is giving trouble driving on petrol 2 days ago the car stopped on petrol i switched to cng and than switch back to petrol the car started at petrol but after running few kms the car stop again on petrol went to mechanic he open every possible pipe and give me a verdict that your carborator needs servicing i tell him to do so and he started doing it after he finish the car was fine i run good 8 kms on petrol and suddenly the car doing same problem , today i went to mechanic again he opens the carborator again and this time according to him the culprit is fuel pump which giving petrol some time but than stops now bear in mind he checked all pipes and every thing even underneath the car and all supplying petrol to carburator now as he finish servicing the carborator and according to him carborator is 100 percent i am confused now what is this myth ? he change pipes , he change petrol filter with original japan one theres no leaking but the fault is still there car is fine when we dont race it as soon u start racing the car it jerks and after few kms its stop on petrol than u have to pull the petrol pipe out and fit it back and than petrol runs again for few kms now switching on petrol and cng is fine i switched few times switching is normal it so please i would like a expert opinion about this all according to mechanic i need to go to shershah and get a new pump or get a electronic pump that will attached from the top no need to open the trunk inside please give me a good carborator guy adress or contact number please so i will go there aswell for second opinion i will desperately wait for the expert opinions about this as this problem eats my 2 days completely and still no verdict the car is cultus carby and it still has the original carborator and working fine according to my mechanic but i observed the race itself some time increase so i am not sure he said butterflies are fine aswell , waiting for your comments guys thanks .

Carbureator is 100% fit and it works till the fuel in its reservoir end. Culprit is the fuel pump which can be tested when running on petrol and engine stops and refuse to start. Disconnect fuel filter and check for mud slit in bright lamp, if it is clear, OK, connect back if it has some mud shake it well and see what comes out, replace it. Connect the pipes, and disconnect the pipe from FUEL Pump to carb, and put it in a empty plastic bottle (1.5 liter coke bottle is clear plastic) and crank the engine, continously for 15 sec, if there is fuel coming in the bottle - then Pump is ok as well. Next step possible can be check by mechanic who can open up the carb n check the Float pin of carb which sometimes get stuck and act abnormal. - send me pm for mechanic name & number if you wish.

capsat thanks for your kind reply well i spend now 2 days in the workshop the mechanic checked both of the step u mention infact he opens the carburator twice now for my satisfaction problem is when he do the second step fuel pump throws the fuel perfectly than again we drive our car for a try but after few kms car starts to take jerks even when we try to race the car is starts jerking its fine when we dont push the accelerator 2 hard so i dont know i am confused whether my mechanic dont know jack about carborators although he opens it twice now or my pump playing up some time not continuously , please pm me your mechanic adress and contact number thanks .

i was also suffring through the 100% same problem..
u just spend 2 days bt i spend about whole week (mon-sat)..
and at last change the mechanic and problem was solved..
it was my fuel tank's fault the breathing pipes of the tank were choked...
replace them get ur tank cleaned and then u can push ur car to it's limit..

thanks sharo53 for replying orite i will go the mechanic tommarow again and this time i will ask him to open the petrol tank and clean it throughly lets hope this will clear my problem inshallah rest hope for good fingers crossed .

wasay ap ki gari neechay to nai lagi kabi zor say?
means if u tried to cross speed-breaker at a bit high speed or at under contructions road..?
coz the pipes taking fuel from tank to carburator are at bottom and they might be pressed...?

i have more one problem with my alto 2005 , when i press race pedal on petrol the car doesnt respond immediately and after a while it responds , in this lag i feel some loosing of power . this only happens in petrol , what you suggest what is the fault ? my intuition is going on return valve !

nah sharo53 i dont remember this incident also if that would be the case i used to run on petrol more often it just happens few days ago first with lack of power when i accelerate and now this all problem persist i still think carborator is the culprit .

your fuel system is air locking... do the fuel tank service like Mr. sharo said and you will be fine

thanks for replying smijaz but if its air locking than it shouldnt be any fuel coming out atall but when my mechanic checked petrol coming out fine from all pipes that supposed to come out so theres no chance for air locking so the scenerio telling us that fuel pump is fine , petrol coming out from the pipes so that means pipes are not choke from the petrol trunk now the only thing that i am not sure is carburator .

yar in simple word apnay mechanic ko kahana k fuel filter jis pipe pa connect hota ka wahan ak extra pipe laga k moo say petrol suck) karnay ki koshish karay agr zoor laga to samajh lana k tank k breathing pipes ma masala ha agr nai to phr pump k o badalnay ka time aa gaya ha..

yea tu note nahi kia sharo bhai par yea note kia he ke smell ate he petrol ke jub car start karo morning me plus race kabbhie khabar barh jate he aur jub accelerate karo tu power loose hota he .

mmmm smell of fuel means that any of the pipe is lose or cracked check ur all pipes inch by inch and get thier ends clumped(if not)...
thora chalnay k baad gari k band ho janay ki waja ya b ho sakti ha k fuel pump kahin say hawa lay raha ha ya to kisi pipe say ya phr us ki apni body kahin say crack ho gai ha nai to us k upper jitnay b screws lagay hoay hon *** un sab ko screw driver say check karna k kahin lose to nai kuin k engine vibration ki waja say lose ho jatay hain..(agr un pa screws hoa to.. kuin k meri charade k pump pa 6 screws hain aur vo saray he ak dafa lose ho gaay thay to pump wahan say hawa layta tha aur fuel sahi tarahan suck nai karta tha..)

thanks sharo i will go to my mechanic tommarow and tell him to open the petrol trunk kuch nahi bhe hua tu atleast tankey ke safai hojaege and he can check the fuel pump and condition aswell lets hope that will solve this issue .

Bro sab se pehley to aap breathing pipes check kerein jaisa @Sharo53 ne suggest kia hai. Petrol ki smell aanay ki waja koi pipe leakage ho sakti hai. kal meri datsun mein bhi yeh problem aaya tha test drive k doraan aur masla main fuel pipe ka tha. uss ka clump loose tha.

aap sab pipe ko achi tarah check karo aur uss wakt check kerna jab smell aa rhi ho. baki aap aik baar fuel tank check kerwao inshaAllah masla hal ho jaey ga.

This problem actually is the fuel tank choking the lines up due to rust. You keep pulling fuel and lil bits start getting stuck till they choke the pipe right at the start of the fuel tank ... in a lil while its completely choked and your done for. If you revv it hard it pulls fuel with more pressure resulting in a quicker choke! Once the cars is off, those particles arent being sucked by the fuel lines and hence settle back in the tank and you have an open line again, till it chokes up again.

This was the exact same problem in a friends City 2001 just a week back. Tank rusted, had to be replaced. Yours may be good with a cleanup!
