Good to see you, GTIWR6 brother, after a long time. Another brother, Abdul usually also visits from Dhaka, Bangladesh, a very nice guy.
I think brothers in Pakistan would be better able to tell the taxation situation in Pakistan. But as far as I recall, they used to have a tax bracket structure, based on Engine Power. The higher the CC power, the more you cry, when paying those taxes. The 1.8L or 1800cc had atleast 100% or 150% duties.
Now recently, the government has reduced the tax duty on the 800cc cars reducing it down to between 60% - 75%, from 90 - 100%, I think.
So, something like a New Landcruiser in US, going for $60,000, would go for $120,000 to $150,000 in Pakistan, which is roughly the price of Porsche, or an pre-owned Ferrari, Lamborghini or Rolls Royce. There are alot of LC's roaming around all over Pakistan, but for some reason, people do not show any interest towards Luxury cars. So, basically, it must be in the psyche of the brothers there, that the bigger the car, the more you get to show off your wealth, :). So, they mainly prefer Landcruisers.
About Revo. It is 100% Pakistani design, both exterior and interior.
The engine however, is currently being manufactured with Chinese assistance, to save on cost, and by 2007, that too will be made entirely in Pakistan, for which the engine manufacturing plant is already being constructed.
