Catalytic converter for vitz

Hi all
I bought vitz 2008 1.0 and owner of that car's suggested me to get clean up the catalytic converter i.e an inside net which has to be cleaned....
I read in some blogs including pkwheels, some of people are suggesting to remove the convertr while others saying to just clean up its inside net i.e (Jalii) in urdu.

Looking for expert opinion please.

if u drive on super fuel only better get it removed and install a resonator

The converters are all about controlling the emissions. In most PKDM cars there is nothing like this. I have heard its not worth cleaning. You better remove it if it is blocked. One of the main symptom is car would hesitate. if you find one cheap in junk yard and you are the guy who wants car in orignal condition its your best bet.

the ECU is tuned for the cat in place, if you remove it you will have a permanent cat efficiency code set on your ECU. If you connect a live scanner you can determine if you need it cleaned or replaced. The post cat o2 sensor should be reading pretty stable at about 0.5 or about 0.7v - it actually swings but only in a 0.02V range.

If it does require cleanup then do an acid wash and ensure the front precat sensor (AFR sensor) is good and not gone lazy. If the MAF is weak it can also cause excessive fuelling which then causes the cat to melt down internally.
