Catalytic convertor for Toyota IQ 2009

Need help sourcing a catalytic convertor for my toyota iq 2009. Any leads in the right direction will be highly appreciated.

if you havent removed the catalytic converter of your car then you can go for its cleaning. Now cleaning is only properly done at a few places. If you can bring your car to RWP then Al-rahman autos (near Pirwadhai chowk) and Autoclub in I-9 are recommended.

what problem you are facing? if its just the acoustics or the check engine light you should get a piece of metal welded inside at the place of cat converter. a disc or half disc with some holes with allowable area for exhaust to pass through similar to that of a cat converter. but if an exhaust sensor exist after the cat converter and the fuel consumption is being affected then you should get one.

Well acoustics is not an issue (learnt to live with it). Check engine light and bad fuel mileage is the real issue here.

Car was dead slow on pick, so went ahead with the removal after doing all logical stuff (plugs, tuneup, sensors checked, injectors cleaned). Turned out that it wasnt cat, it was the EGR valve clogged. Since that has been addressed, the check engine light does not let me sleep :). I feel responsible for this crap if you know what i mean.

just to add that there is a sensor after cat and a smaller cat after the rear sensor as well.
I am looking for the first catalytic convertor. Toyota IQ runs the same 1KR-FE engine. Maybe vitz, passo or belta cats can be used as well, just Maybe though!

What CEL (check engine lights) is it showing? Does the check engine light come up with the TRC light and does the VSC light blink?

The iQ, Belta, Vitz and Passo have the same engine in the 1000cc category, the 1KR-FE. But the catalytic converter of the iQ is different. As far as the EGR valve is concerned, did you get it cleaned and put it back on or have you replaced it?

The 1KR-FE Toyota iQ has a factory issue known for the plugged/clogged EGR valve and a bad CAT converter. Hence no movement on smashing the accelerator. The problem was due to the positioning of the EGR pipe, on later models this issue was resolved.

The Toyota service bulletin that you posted helped me to track the issue. BTW from a practical point of view, cleaning of the EGR pipe and valve alone would not make it work. You need to clean the housing on which this EGR is placed on the toyota iq. There are tiny pores that are clogged on the housing restricting the flow.

You need to clean the housing on which this EGR is placed on the toyota iq. There are tiny pores that are clogged on the housing restricting the flow.

The initial root of the problem is with the location of the EGR pipe, if you look at the service bulletin photo it mentions that this issue was resolved by Toyota in June 2010. Cars that were produced after this date no longer have this issue. The only solution to this is to change the EGR pipe. Which means you would have to replace the entire CAT as well (as it is mounted to the CAT).

If you do find a way around this, please do update this thread.

Car is running perfectly fine after the EGR valve and trim cleaning. The car used to bog down on push. Stand still on slopes earlier.
EGR pipe had no soot / carbon in it and i dont believe that going for a post 2010 cat would make any difference.
