Most phones, even the budget ones are not slow to begin with. You can use them for 100 days without any third party apps and they will not lag at all.
To avoid this slowing issues, you must know how to deal with third party spps that may slow your phone. Once you know it, its very easy to fix these issues on budget phones even without rooting or custom roms.
But after third party apps, those phone were exactly like that you mentioned, having more bloat and less processing power, but I actually loved them and I still do the most, because they taught me 'EVERYTHING' about troubleshooting and optimisations. Flagships taught me 'almost nothing' because they don't have those problems, which is one of the reasons I 'always' keep lower end devices as primary phone. I am no expert, just in a learning stage, trying to make things better.
Zero 2 and Honor 4C is the best 3G smartphone option in that range. Zero 2 has 3 GB RAM LTE model too, if that comes here and Infinix products durability remains good (not like Qmobile), then that will be a real flagship killer!.

Your are right, AMOLED displays are perfect for multimedia stuff and IPS are perfect for Internet browsing. Having same pixel density (PPI) of both AMOLED and IPS display, IPS sharpness/clarity is slightly more than AMOLED.
-IPS shows pure whites and cannot show pure blacks.
-AMOLED shows pure blacks and cannot show pure whites, as it has slight yellow tint (warm color temperature) on pure white backgrounds.

New amoled panels by Samsung are amazing. Samsung is improving them every year. White color problem has been resolved. Now we get LCD white and LCD accuracy on amoled screen. For example S6 and Note 4 displays. I see no over saturated colors on my phone like S2.

In fact Samsung is also improving low end and mid range phones.

For the first time I'm liking touch wiz. It's much much better then before. Samsung is focusing more on aesthetics and useful features unlike the bloatware features in the past.

Did some search and a very old post of yours came. Excellent advice 10/10.

Whatever you said about 2 GB RAM now applies on budget phones too, as latest apps are very RAM hungry too and when the apps cannot get enough RAM to operate optimally, phone starts to lag and freeze.

So they should better invest in budget phones having atleast 1.5 GB RAM or preferably more, to get smooth & responsive results.

The 'latest' Super AMOLED panels in Samsung Galaxys are no doubt exceptionally good, improved tremendously from previous ones, and even more brighter than IPS panels offered by competitors. It was a well known fact of AMOLED panels having less brightness than IPS, but it's resolved too. Even the latest budget phones having AMOLED panels are excellent.

TouchWiz has improved significantly since 5.1.1 update, even in budget phones. There is very less bloatware, that too can be disabled without root. Even 1 GB RAM Samsung budgets phones having 5.1.1 are surprisingly running much faster (without lagging).

Samsung did very well in software optimisations overall.

That's very true. Great observation, as most people don't notice these things. They just know that TouchWiz is bad!. Even Note series have a ton of useful features, which half people are not aware of.

Once in a while, one or two corrupt apps or even some corrupt Samsung app makes the phone battery hungry or laggy and people who cannot figure out software issues tag these issues with phone. The latest ones are actually very stable, fast and efficient.

Even Stock Android in most Nexus phones, having none of the features like TouchWiz is not as battery friendly as it should be. But Nexus phones corrupt less.

Those CM and AOSP roms were way more better than Samsung roms back then, but now most of them for flagships are not too impressive.

You can also look for better alternatives, like Honor 4C, Infinix Zero2, P8 Lite 4G, Galaxy J5 4G (Non warranty) or any other latest phone.

As we all know that Qmobile is not a phone manufacturer, it is just a distributor of re-branded very low quality chinese phones with its own name.

When buying phones with AMOLED displays, especially used ones, its always better to check for display ghosting or burn in, by using #0# and testing Red, Green, Blue and other tests.

This issue is even sometimes (very slightly) on the 10/10 condition phones too and it is usually more common in 1 year old or more used phones. In most cases, it is very subtle and not as obvious as the attached photos.

Screen burn in or ghosting (dark shadows) can also be checked against solid white background at full brightness too. It occurs in AMOLED displays only, not on IPS or any other type.

This photo is solid white background, so that you can check your phone's AMOLED display, if you want.

Note: make sure that screen is clean before testing.

Few examples of display burn in or ghosting from Internet.

Use of dark themes, dark wallpapers and keeping brightness at moderate levels can significantly reduce its occurrence.

Keeping the screen on (idle) unnecessarily for extended time periods may also result in display burn in or ghosting.

A real example of an S6 Edge demo at a shop whose AMOLED screen is burned in and ghosted (especially while displaying green colors).

There is even a shadow of 'Galaxy S6 Edge' written in green colour photo.

Its common for those demo phones, as they stay on for extended times at full brightness. But a normal AMOLED display phone could also have this problem.

Keeping brightness at auto also helps to prevent it, as it automatically lowers the brightness to protect display from overheating and damage.
