Before any data transfer to "used" Samsung Galaxys, i "highly" suggest to
1) Update phone to latest firmware via OTA update or Odin (preferred).
2) After update, perform a factory reset and wipe cache partition from recovery.
3) Disable bloatware (unnecessary pre-installed apps) and turn off unnecessary features that you don't use.
4) "Never" install "anything" that claims to improve battery timings, performance or something correlated to this.
This will refresh the phone software and optimise it to run in the most efficient way. It is a "compulsory" procedure for a smooth troublefree experience, otherwise phone will drain battery faster, lag and cause other issues.
The procedures explained by ihpwf12 are 100% true and they work, but some of your settings seems to be messed up which will be fixed when you follow the above procedures.
If your phone is not rooted, then you can easily OTA update the firmware. Lookup "settings", then "about device", then "software update".
Best of luck and congratulations on your Galaxy S5 purchase.
