Average 13/5MP Cameras compared to Honor 4C and P8 Lite
Not recommended if great camera is the top most priority. P8 and Honor 4C has the best camera in similar price.
It has average camera quality (photos and videos) and weaker camera than Honor 4C or P8 Lite and has basic camera modes (it has HDR) and video recording is upto 720p from both cameras.
Camera shutter sound cannot be turned off in stock camera app.
Digital video stabilisation is available.
Front camera is very wide angle (85 degrees) camera, but quality is average.
Good lighting camera performance is decent, but low light without flash is average (not terrible though).
Low light camera performance with its powerful flash is very good.
Exceptional battery timings with fast charging support
4000mah non removable battery and battery timings are ~10-12 hours SOT (screen on time) and it can be used as power bank to charge other devices. *2 days battery timing guaranteed.
Traditional fast charging (2A/5V) is supported, fast charging makes the battery hot upto 45C (normal for fast charging), but no overheating was observed.
Takes ~2-2.5 hours to charge fully from empty.
Excellent Performance
2GB RAM and EMUI Lite is very smooth and very less RAM hungry and gives ~1.4 GB free RAM at first boot.
Very snappy performance with 1.3 64bit quad core Mediatek MTK6735 processor with mali T720 GPU scoring 34000 on Antutu benchmark. It performs like octa cores and i did not face a single lag or hanging even with 20-30 opened and ~150 installed apps.
Far better gaming performance than its competitors like 4C, J5, P8 Lite and it does not overheat in extended gaming.
One of the best gaming performance in its class.
Plays most moderate or even heavier games very well without any lags, stutters or overheating. It played Asphalt 8 (highest graphics), Modern combat 5, Real Racing 3 etc like games without any lags, which is quite surprising.
It barely heats, so heat dissipation is excellent.
Day to day tasks performance is excellent and much better than Galaxy J series.
Display, sound quality & signal reception
Display quality is sufficiently good (decent) with adequate sunlight legibility and viewing angles etc. Display color saturation is slightly less than my liking. Thick black border is there around display, which is annoying to me.
Overall sound quality, earphones provided in box are good quality (standard Huawei) and signal reception and call quality is very good.
Lack of some features
No double tap to wake, no motion and gestures, no compass and lacks some other useful EMUI features found in P8 Lite and Honor 4C, since it runs EMUI Lite version.
Touch sensitivity issues (sometimes)
Touch response is good enough, but not too great with tampered glass sometimes (update: Problem almost resolved after turning on high touch sensitivity mode).
Trying live demo before buying is suggested, as it fails to register taps sometimes, especially while typing quickly. Rest its ok.
It could be a problem with my testing set though.
Design, build quality and warranty with accidental coverage
Accidental coverage along with warranty.
Build quality seems good with metal frame and plastic body.
Looks and design are personal preferences, so no comments.
Storage & 4G connectivity
16GB ROM and apps/data can be directly installed/downloaded to memory card.
Two sim slots and a separate microsd card slot.
It has both 4G supported sim slots. So it can use 4G from both sims without sim swapping.
Rest standard connectivity features.
Basic features and sensors
It has notification led (green and red color only), all basic sensors like auto brightness sensor etc. Compass and gyroscope is not available.
