Want to buy a mobile in 25k not more than that, this is the farthest amount my budget could've stretched. Preferences are:

Sleek and screen not larger than 4.3
Android OS v4 +
512Mb ram or more
Good camera
Expandable Memory
500mb or more internal memory

I was thinking of xperia series by sony. Which xperia is better to buy?

Desire x, I didn't like the display quality of xperia phones

HTC phones don't have good battery backup, xperia S will cost you 25-27k In used condition, but you can also get Galaxy Nexus in this price too I would recommend this

Congratulations. I will suggest you to set up your mobile so that you can enjoy it more.
1-Install Apex Launcher. Its light, fast and smooth. Better than laggy Q launcher (pre-loaded)
2-Its camera app is useless and takes time to take pictures. Install CameraZoomFX. You'll love it.
3-When you recieve an sms, the screen will not lit itself so you can sometimes miss you messages. Install SMS WakeUP. You can set the time the screen will lit and brightness.

just check if the screen is working properly. check it for dead pixels, spots. common problem with amoled screens. apart from that just check the usual things, like speaker volume etc. if you are getting from a shop, try to get checking warranty of a couple of days.

if you can. not necessarily anything wrong with them, they just have lower resale. where are you going to buy from? market or from someone?

May or may not, depends on the firmware. If its a well known like Cyanogenmod, AOKP, PA then battery performance will improve.
