Yesterday, I took my bike to a tyre shop and fixed a rear puncture. After that bike started making grinding noise while driven. I guessed that was chain striking the chain cover and making that grinding noise. I removed the chain cover and problem has been solved.

My question is: Can I drive the bike without chain cover? Will it effect anything? What damage it can cause?

yaar use it. it saves chain from water at roads, environmntal dirt which sticks to the chain and corrodes it plus chain is greesy so tiny stones gan get stuck with it damaging the sprocket teeths

Umar, dear first I will fix the loose chain. It touches the chain cover and makes a grinding noise. Then I will put it back on.

I used the tools provided by atlas honda to open up the chain cover. I personally enjoy working on my bike.

Covered chain is good as explained by Umar
For chain adjustment check out owner manual and do properly
you will need to buy some tools to adjust chain

dont apply oil or grease to the chain - buy a can of chain wax

Thanks, In Karachi I will look for it. Internet search indicates it is a variant of wd 40.

no its not anything even close to WD40 - the chain lube is a greasy wax suspended in a volatile solvent.

get it fixed and and put back cover as quick as possible ........and dont apply any oil or normal grease ...for the moment it will help afterwords it will destroy the chain

Today I took the bike to work. Had no noise trouble. It is now confirmed the noise was due to chain grinding with cover.

Use old used engine oil on chain.

Atleast SAE 90 Grade Gear oil must be used on chain if chain wax is not available.
