In every country there is a countrywide rule of number plates regarding shape, size, colours and font, If you speak of mercedes, BMW, VW and Audi plate mounts being narrow - those are for wide narrow Euro plates, the same german vehicles that get exported to the middle east or USA have a different mounting to accept a larger more squarish plate exactly like the one we have now in Pakistan. Its not the fault of the licensing authority but yours, when you buy a car you look for such problems and buy appropriate parts beforehand.
