Batteries in Nissan leaf are air cooled, unlike tesla and some other brands which use liquid cooling, yes liquid cooling is better than air cooling, but air cooling is certainly not “terrible” in any way as you belive, for example Nissan gives a warranty of 100,000 miles or 8 years on its new battery pack, it can be claimed if battery becomes “useless” as you mentioned or capacity of battery is decreased below 90% within said tenure.
For the sake of discussion if we assume your claim is right, then why people who own these vehicles throw in crushers and what stopped them from claiming warranty and getting free battery replacement, or we haven’t heard any news of recalling Nissan leafs due to bad battery.
Here is Nissan warranty leaflet,
Nissan also conducted study in US regarding battery capacity after 5 years of EV launching, results you can see yourself.
http://www.energytrendsinsider.com/2015/04/13/nissan-leaf-drive-train-is-25-times-more-reliable-than-conventional-cars/Here are a few reviews of people who bought Nissan leaf down the way, you may see decide are they satisfied or otherwise.
Drive range of 2014 Nissan leaf is 120-135 km on single charge, which is fine for most of the people living in Pakistani cities and doing intra city driving ,2017 Nissan has 243 km range.since the topic says “Challenges electric vehicles will face in Pakistan”, about Houston drive you should discuss to some gora there, i can’t comment.
Furthermore weight difference btw corolla 1.8 and Nissan leaf is around 200 kg, being a 1500 kg weighing car it doesn’t mean suspension parts will be failed, we had a Mitsubishi pajero weighing 2000 kg its ball joints lasted for 150,000 kms, even my cultus got first ball joints replacement at 130k kms, corolla ball joint you claim as scrap in US with 15k mile life, here in Pakistan they don’t need replacement even after 130,000 kms, because they are fine and boots are intact. Still wondering why EV owners come to you for replacement of ball joints at 20k when they are under warranty for 36000 miles, and not a single person reported this manufacturing fault in some review.
Let me remind you again, transmission is not installed in Nissan leaf, so no need to use ATF fluid dexron VI, plz use some synthetic gear oil like GL-4 etc in reduction gear, it has long life , even company says in its manual , it is to be checked on 120000 miles , no need for replacement if it seems ok.
Dude, as per my knowledge, TESLA maintenance and spares is a propriety matter till date, it means only company owned authorized maintenance facilities across US and UK can have maintenance of vehicles and spare parts are also centrally provided by tesla upon requirement generated by those facilities, I don’t why would somebody would come to houstan road side workshop for replacement of ball joints and rendering its tesla warranty null and void.
Dude let me share some sale data of EVs during past years, which shows sharp sales rise due to their usefulness, I cant say whether these Goras at US Uk Japan China are fools or EV opponents are ignorant, they are drinking Lassi or we r sleeping after having Sattu.

Within few years it will be clear that, EVs in Pakistan is a utopia, pipedream or reality, we are stuck with rikshaw qinqchi , because (sadly) we have less privileged population, which need to make its both ends meet, they earn their livelihood using available resources. We too have huge no of people who use engine cars of various sizes and types, they will get benefitted from these vehicles (new or second hand).
Its very difficult to convince an old school engine mechanic about pro s of an electric car, anyhow i tried my best, rest time will tell in afew years, whether electric cars are running on Pakistani roads or not ..
