Hi all. I got my alsvin in early Feb. It now 1100 km on odometer. I had previously a 2019 BRV 1.5 cvt and also own a corrolla 1.3 ect 2015. I also owned a 2007 vitz until 2019.
Here is my review so far.
Looks/exterior.
The car looks great to me. The sun roof makes it incredibly open, well lit and premium, atleast till the weather permits active use. I found a very tiny speck of dirt in paint on one panel , which the company promised to buff away, otherwise the paint job is decent. It's well buand material quality on the outside really good. The lights are excellent and well controlled electronically. I do find rear lights rather simple with helogen.. Not that cool as a corrolla or new swift.
Drive:
Its power to body ratio is awesome. Speeds like a bullet in stop and go traffic and I have easily driven it past 120 and under 12 seconds. DCT is different than cvt and ect. Cvt is rubber band like, the power is delayed when u floor it, as was the case with BRV. The ECT is responsive but has 4 gears only so the the fuel economy is not that great. The DCT has a little jerk between low to high gears but its responsive and thrilling in such a little car. You feel like racing for the Heck of it. So far I don't miss cvt ect or manual. The drive is fairly stable and agile. The best part is steering. It's intelligent and feels extremely light at slow speed and stiff at high, thus makes city driving less taxing. I feel my corrolla steering is much more harder at same speeds.
Interior
It looks great but yes materials are budget car like. Plastic took some time to get smooth by constant use. The company can spend some effort in polishing plastic to make it less scratchy to brand new customer. There are great design elements that professional reviewers don't get. For example, the volume nob is at passenger side so they can also control volume, useful for wife. While I get to change volume by steering control. This is good thinking. However the constant annoyance is the lack of enough space for putting the mobile at usual charging space. So in a nut shell, the design inside looks great, but improvements need to be made. Seating is optimum for 5 person family, offxourse it is not corolla spacious but it's OK for city driving and occasional road trips.
Economy:
5.5lt per 100km to 6.6 LT per 100 km. Ac is not on much, so will share latter ac Impact. So far its better than Mira custom my family owns.
Service :
I go to Islamabad changan service. They are courteous and did free service at 100km. Now I will go at 5000 km mark.
Incidents
So my front tyre was punctured and it immidiatly showed TPMS error on the screen and In dash. I tried to look but not enough air was out yet, so ignored it. After some time it started to really deflate nd I took it to near by fuel station without risking tyre change on road. Very use full feature
Its raining. There are adjustable intermittent wipers, they are extremely useful to change interval as needed instead of one step intermittent wipers on corolla and others.
Tyres.
Its fine, dont have much to complain but they used low profile tyres, I plan to change them at 40 to 60 k kms. So far there is no issue of grip or ride quality. I could use less road noise.
Overall, the car is a great buy. But offcourse I feel a little sad that I waited for it get to 3 million mark. Still, its cheaper than yaris or City, both of which looks dated to this. I like the new swift, but 1.2 vs. 1.5, there is just no replacement for the sheer power difference. So happy and would recommend alsvin
