That's insane. There is no way anyone can sit there without a headrest. Isn't this a CKD unit? So these seats must have been imported.

in china.... obviously they would be adding ckd duties and expensive local market parts.... so the cost is some how still justified.

our ckd duties are just too much.

Bhai Chagan got 50% subsidy on import of parts under the green field status as per 2016-2021 auto policy. Again I never Cross compare pricing of our PKDM with global models and for various reasons BUT just wanted to clarify how much it cost in China and secondly the huge subsidy Changan like many other local new car assemblers are getting . Every local vehicle is overpriced comparing international model beside less featured.

In the PakWheels video, the 5 seater seems to have a center headrest in the 2nd row. I think they removed it for the 7 seater.

BTW.. NO CURTAIN AIRBAGS.. where is the "FUTURE FORWARD " slogan ? X7 has only side curtain airbags.. lol still better than other PKDMS's [ less Swift and Stonic , which has full side and curtain]

The infotainment is for sure not an Android unit. Looks like it runs some custom software.

Nothing is value for money here, if u want latest gen u pay more, for old gen u pay less but either way u get a stripped down version

it is 100% Android with kitKat-4.4. I had an hour long discussion head sales Changan ,where he kept on praising the kitkat-4.4. Its has just a different layout visually but base OS is KITKAT4.4 and with 8GB of storage capacity.

I am told today, the system is little leggy as well and touch screen dont respond very efficiently.

Didn’t you ask him k why can’t they provide a proper android auto/ apple car play unit? I mean it would certainly add value and they can market it as something offered for the first time in our market.

It's certainly not an off-the-shelf unit then since it has a lot of vehicle settings incorporated into it.

that vehicle setting is nothing out of this world.. its like a torque app incorporated to OBD / canbus to infotainment system and changing the settings. . yes they incorporated settings but it is still the kitkat4.4 . local headunits can incorporate certain vehicle settings. I do see vehicle settings on the 2022 Civic as well not sure what settings are there..

you're absolutely right, back in the days development and adding custom feature to these units are super simple and easy newer versions are more secure and require a full-fledged functionality from Google for Android Enterprise Edition
so I think they save cost from both ends i.e. buying cheap units with old OS, and then simply putting their apps as system application with all the vehicle settings which is simple and easy (newer version require proper development methods and R&D)
Even Honda did the same thing, TW Techno or whatever local manufacturer develops infotainment systems deliberately import these shitty units to save cost on hardware and software
I myself import units to USA from China and Android 8 units cost me around 200-220 USD with all the software and everything (Software development is done in house to save cost)
