Well I've myself tested this phenomenon with different viscosity of oil used in shocks making it soft to hard.
You know I'm a enthusiast plus in professional business since a very long time. So obviously I would have many repairers and then tried this ourselves in many different vehicles. But they were never impressive in newer vehicles with stablizer bars, Zlinks.
The old vehicles had no choice due to lack of availability of parts so this trick worked in them. I myself used to do this to my Nissan b11 alot of times.
So there's no comparison to oem shocks. In newer vehicles, this trick fails to provide a smoother drive experience, better durability & weight shift.
Plus one more thing anyone keeping expensive cars should spend on the quality parts to get rid of frequent workshop visits. Many examples are there, just see Suzuki liana many people called it a flop car due to juggar ustaads working with there self developed tricks
So I always recommend people for quality parts & oem parts, if not least to after market parts. If anyone is out of finances they should wait for spending on the cars and spend it one time with better quality. @brownrose78
And you're very dear to me, I'm just telling you my personal advice as once you deal in numbers with different brands you gotta know about what maintenance is suitable for what vehicle.
