Changing Engine Oil Grade in my Corolla Altis 1.6 2018 from 5w30 to 10w30

Hi everyone, today I went to Toyota Rawal Motors for the oil change of my Corolla Altis 1.6 FL, I'm well aware of the fact that people at Toyota Rawal Motors are notorious for their unprofessional service and behavior, but surprisingly, I had a pretty good experience with the Customer Service.
However, I just want to ask from the experts here that the mechanical expert there at Rawal Motors told me that as my car mileage is now around 45k kms, so it is best to change the grade of the oil that I was using before (5w30) and now he suggested me to use this 10w30 or 20w50, but I opted 10w30 on the suggestion of that expert (God only knows that whether he was an expert or our traditional 'Ustad jee' )

Anyways, I just want to ask the experts here that whether it's a good move to change the grade of the oil which I used now or should I stick to the oil grade which I was using before, that is, 5w30. Thank you.

10W30 is okay, but I can bet that he probably didn't have a single good reason to opt for it instead of 5w30 and you should have gone for 5w30. If he is recommending 20W50, steer clear of him.

Have you changed it to 10w30 yet?? If not stick to 5w30... 45k is nothing at all. Don't change until you notice oil consumption when you replace oil. 5w30 is perfect for your car. Oil consumption usually occurs after the car has run atleast 200k. These corolla engines are pretty much indestructible.

45,000 kms is no mileage for switching to 10w-30. If a car works fine on 5w-30, then 5w-30 may be kept in use for even up to 3 lac Kms, even more.

people here always undermine the local talent of Ustaad. He himself was the consultant on design of this very Toyota engine. He knows which oil to use.

On a serious note, see what is mentioned in your manual and stick to that. I am using 5w-30 in a 200K+ KM Toyota engine which is 18 years old and it is running fine.

Higher viscosity engine oil in extremely low temperatures is bad for the engine, however, in higher temperatures like in Pindi/Islamabad, I don't think that it will be a problem for me, anyways, from next oil change, I'll stick to 5w30 in sha ALLAH and thank goodness, I didn't opt-out for 20w50.

Someone told me that these ustaad's use thicker oils when odometer mileage increases due to valves getting expanded as car's usage increases. One of them suggested me to use 20w50 in a 120k km driven Passo.

That's a misprinting in 5w30 bar.
0w20 is first recommendation for this engine internationally, and 5w30 is recommended in Pakistan. Use that, stop believing Toyota too much. Only change 5w30 if your oil gauge shows reduction at 5000kms. Then you can hop onto 5w40 or 5w50. This is a stupid gimmick through which toyota IMC sells all their oils.
Engine optimum running temperature is around 90 degrees Celsius. All oils are meant to handle that temperature without any issues.

Same. Mine was a bit weird. I was on call. Thank god i saw him. He was putting havoline 20w50 in my 37k driven mehran. When i caught him and asked why he wasn't putting one that i bought. He said sir 30 hazar k bad 20w50 daal len or coolant ki jaga pani use kren. Coolant radiator pipes khrab krdeta h. And i was like​🤣🤣

There is a little problem that thankfully ustaad jee has poured the right amount of engine oil in my car, that is, 4.2 liters and for that, he has given me the remaining 0.8 liters (of a 1-liter bottle) of oil to use in the next oil change and that this 0.8 liters will be used 4 times with the 4 liters of the bottle which I buy every time oil change is due, the question I want to ask is that I have decided to stick to 5w30 from next oil change, so do you think it is advisable to mix 4 liters or 5w30 with 0.2 liters of 10w30 in the next 3 or 4 oil change?
