Changing original Number plates

I was wondering would i be fined by Traffic police if i change my cars original Number plates ( the one given by Govt at the time of registration)?

As i dont like the Green white combination of colors on Lahore registered cars . I am not going to change them with some crazy number plates with LED or crazy writing style. I just want to replace them with simple white number plates with text written in Bold black.

Anyone has info abt this issue?

yes you will be ..and they are not legal....

all computerized numbers should have original number plates

the law states that you MUST haev the govt issued plates on your car when using it on a public road,.. but usually this is ignored till the police need money (around eid) and then they become extra efficiant and start pulling people over. this applies to all cities,.. my advice is to stick with the ugly original plates to avoid irritations from the cops (specially with family in the car)

You may feel that's okay because you're being honest with the number plate you're gonna use. That isn't the case with other people, who're bound to misuse leniency in laws like this. Replacing original number plates and keeping them in your car to show to police just increases the workload of an already inefficient police force. Keep the original plates.

Well no tension here in sialkot, 70% ppl change that crappy green white one..

well... i changed the number plates couplae of months back... and guess what...

No one cares.... I even asked a policeman, and he said its fine of u hav the original in ur trunk as well..

As said by storm that we all must obey law only n only to avoid irritations caused by police specially while being with family but here don't know why people prefer to have some discrimination over others by putting tints, replacing license plates and consider this a pride for us,so its better to stick to the original one's or be ready to be treated as a vagabonds after every mile at roads by culprits in uniforms.

I heard the original ones get stolen too? and there is no way you can get another duplicate one from government or maybe it takes too long resulting significant reduction in the value of your vehicle?? is this true?

you're suggesting that they break the law? do you know that in ISB (according to the law) if your car is without it's original plates the police have the right ot impound your car?

is it really worth the hassle just to look cooler for a few days? i know nowdays everyone is doing it but what's the point? if we all use legal plates on our cars it'll help us all get through police checkposts quicker AND will help curb crimes as anyone with a plastic version of a new plate can be rounded up.

again, by law they MUST provide you with replacement plates if your get stolen or go missing.

well its better to go for the original ones!but at the same time Islamabad police is becoming doo number(Untrustworthy) these days!i did not have my car's book with me when i was stopped at the check point near G10.police then checked my car,id card,license etc!after all the checking they said that your car will go to police station and we will impound it! i asked them to give me a proper challan by taking my nic card.they replied that we will not do like this!there was a police sergeant nearby......i called him and requested him for a challan!he called the other Islamabad traffic police guy and told him to do "muk muka" with me!he came and sat in my car asked for :chai pani" i gave him 80 rs and escaped!

you are absolutely rite. but even govt organization give white with black figures plates to the employees them selves i m using one.its allowed by the ictp.

Right but You live in Pakistan. I drove ma car for more then a week WITHOUT plates and the front one just plate said "R" though i replaced it cuz of my dad. But here no such issue. No one cares here.
Dont know about punjab.
