Charade 1985 sunroof repairing

Hi everyone,I have a 1985 Charade (sunroof variant) and recently discovered that the sunroof glass was cracked. I decided to replace it, but when I dismantled the sunroof, I found the sunroof frame was too rusted to fit a new glass. My mechanic mentioned that finding a replacement frame for such an old car would be difficult.Now, my car is open, and I'm unsure of what to do next. I'm based in Karachi, so if anyone has suggestions on where I might find a replacement frame locally, or if there are any alternative solutions for restoring or replacing the sunroof, I'd really appreciate your help.Any advice would be greatly appreciated!Thanks, Abdullah

Few days back another member was looking to
restore his Khyber. He visited few shops but didn’t receive any good response. That
member was from Rawalpindi I believe.

Let me see if I can find his thread and I will
refer your workshop to him to visit.

For such older cars, finding original sunroof is near to impossible.

Best way is to fix the new glass permanently. And before doing that don’t forget to clean the drain channels of the sunroof. Otherwise the water may seep inside the roof into the cabin.

To fix the new glass, I have to do something about the sunroof frame because it is too damaged from rust (gala hua hai). Initially, I just wanted to change the glass, but I can't do that without addressing the frame first.

Since the whole channel is not available, hence best way is to clean the existing one, paint it (to avoid rust) and fix it back with new glass.

Its my personal opinion though.

There can be another solution/idea of that.

Instead of using the same rusted/old frame, take your car to steel works shop and ask them to make one new frame which can be fixed in the space of channel and fix/sit well with roof. On that frame, you can fix the glass permanently.

This is an idea only as plan B just in case if its needed.

The factory sunroof G11 were very bad even brand new.
