Charade 86 brake discs and pads advice

boss unfortunately issue is still not resolved... i will now have to seek a third opinion.

Opinion 1 : from the mechanic who replaced the discs:

Get the Cuore hubs replaced.....

Opinion 2: from another experienced mechanic who resolved the issue temporarily:

The new discs are faulty upon inspection.....

Its my Assumption that when i take this analysis back to mechanic #1 he will look for reasons to discourage me from making him return the new discs and will sell new issues to me....(this is not turning out to be as good as i thought it would)

How did you conclude the discs are bad? You can have it checked on a lathe with a dial indicator, or even on the car too.

Are the discs colliding with the caliper bracket? Did the mechanic install the hub over the discs correctly? (Its like a mehran setup and very easy to mess up)

use a dial gauge to check run out of the discs.

i got lahori discs a long time ago and had to get them tooled because the run out was bad for the new discs

why didnt the MK autoes detected that ur car had coure hub installed. i bet if coure hub installed then the axle will be also be from coure as normally our idiot mechanic does this by telling ppl that charade axles are hard to find and coure ones are swapped easily as they are availble so they do this.

by the way, please make sure ur mechanis has installed the brakes correctly and the local lahori discs are alligned.

I didnt conclude that they are bad , the mechanic did. what exactly is a caliper bracket can you share any example with that of a picture

ive been way to busy to get a third opinion as the 1st two mechanics seem to be beating about the bush now (aka topi karana)

final verdict about sk autos is that

Suspension work (Arif rocks)
His sidekick partners for denting and mechanical works are rookies and ripoffs

anyone wanna refer a reliable mechanic they know for ages so i can get a third opinion.

consider visiting afzaal autos.

also theres a small shop in plaza market, that does only resurfacing of flywheels and brake discs. afzaal also sends his customers there for this sort of work. he does the dismantling and fixing, but the machining is done be the shop in plaza.

I dont understand why workshops dont buy a brake lathe themselves, its quite small too.

i think people find it cheaper to outsource now. purchasing a lathe, means electrical bills, lathe operator salary, small odds and ends and bits toolings etc. for such specialist work, people just send it to the person doing just that specialist work.

Back when I was wrenching in Pakistan, I had a brake lathe, bought used and refurbished myself with parts from Lawrence road.

It paid itself off in 10 or 15 jobs I think. But the time it saved was phenomenal! Same with my own hydraulic press and later on screw press for insitu change of wheel bearings.

Business not investing in tooling for time management is not sincere to it.

another reason could also be space issues. the shops have become microsized and extremely expensive

A brake lathe takes same space as a chair and a shop press is even smaller, a screwjack set of bearing cups is stored in a space of 15x8x4 inches, now if mechanics are still piling tools and parts on the floor and dont beleive shelves have been invented then its their fault for not being creative with space management.

The issue is that customers look for shops which are tiny and unkept hoping to get a “cheaper deal” assuming the properly setup and equipped shop will be someone who is “khaal khenchta hai”

Just like homeowners go looking for carpenters and electricians at markets with people sitting on sidewalks (newer era is whatsapp references etc) - without counting the most important factor of “quality of workmanship”
