Firstly - there is literally no CDI as cars have had battery powered ignitions since the 1930s, CDI is capacitor discharge ignition to charge the coil, in a car the battery power charges the coil.
whatever is being called CDI in cars is nothing more than a pulse generator and ignitor to switch the coil off and on in order to generate a spark.
and btw - dont install the electronic ignition distributor unit from a turbo G11 charade, its breaker plate advance unit works on pressure and retards timing, its centrifugal advance is also curved very different and when used on an NA engine, the engine has almost no pickup.
TL DR
repair and overhaul the old distributor - tune it correct and you will enjoy the peppy response from the small 3 cyl Toyota/Daihatsu engine.
