Charade Detomaso 1986 - Need Help

Today I bought Charade Detomaso 1986. I am an absolute layman when it comes to Car maintenance, so I need all the help/tips I can get from the experts here in order to maintain my 36 year old car.

Other than keeping an eye out for Water in the radiator, oil. What are the other important things I should be checking on regularly?

many congrats on getting a cool and fine condition datomaso which are getting very rare now or have been destroyed by ppl who want to modify it. the person u have bought from has kept it in good condition.

check basic things, like air filter, change engine oil, brake oil condition, battery water level. Drive the car and notice, temp readings, fuel consumptions, any weird noises from engine and suspension.

check for any loose wirings, any electrical gadget not working. Get the car aligned and dont go for any modifications.

post some detailed pictures as well.

Transmission makes a weird sound (sounds something because of friction) when switching between first, second and reverse.

Congrats on getting this rare car. Looks like need a new clutch with gear box greasing.

What are the best engine, break and gear oils (company names) for charade?

You need to check the front suspension, the wheels are tucked back

My Charade Steering is too hard, i dont know why. I got it Reparied many times . and its not like Smooth when i bought the car in 2014.

why is that so? Shall i replace the Steering Rack ? Shall i replace the tyres? Shall i put EPS in it ?

or is it Something Faulty Suspension? last time i overhauled Complete Suspension and the guy repaired the Steering as well and some Ball joints waghera

One more question, the Shock Absobers were replaced 2 3 years back and that guy put HIJET Shock Abosorber and the Drive was not like before. ase suggest k konse Shocks dalun. people Said Starlet k Dal jate hain.

Shall i put New Shocks of any car? or is it Charade Shocks available in market for new?

Further more my Car Fuel Guage is also not working. is it Something Related to Eletrical issue or Something Gautge in the Tank ? q k i poured 25 liters and the needle is still on E.

@Capsat , Also can i get the new parts of Body? like Door Panels, Front Fenders and Bonut ? So simply it sould be paint to new . because last panels got many time Shower and rusted.

float gauge inside the fuel tank has gone bad any competent electrician can fix it. It can be a simple DIY as well.

i can see stupidity done at door locks, when denter is working over new door skins you can restore the locks as well, same apply to rear hatch & fuel lid lock if ustadified.

or if u have a budget, go to shershah guy named Kaloo bhaya the famous charade parts guy or faheem.

make a deal with all four doors, bonette, bumpers, fenders, diggi. original saman with accessories repalce with your saman. sell ur old parts on olx.

ur car needs serious body work and remember, if u are going for body work u have to have a truck load of patience and time plus money also.

by the why there is a hammer near driving seat in ur car.

Yes i Spoke with Afzaal bhai today, i will be visiting him in coming week for Suspension Work

@nnabeel Bro i have found a guy who is Specialize in making CHarade, i will be visiting him for Complete Dent paint Work and interior Work including Seats + Carpet + Side Boards with Complete Dent paint & Bhatti Paint.

Further more that is not hammer that is Wood piece only used for Bonut when i bought the car, because there was no Bonut stick. later i bought the Stick and that Wood Part is still lying there.

I will make a Seperate thread for my Car Restoration.

Will Stripe Down the Complete Paint From All panels and Will Replace the panels which are Rusted and then will go for new Paint on Bear metal panel. Will remove everything except Dashboard and engine.

Make sure the guy u found who does charades should mend ur car on timely basis and return back the car. as most of the dentar/painters delay the work and with the passage of time the owner loose interest, his pickets gets empty and the dentar/painter keeps asking for money. result the car gets wasted standing at the shops.

make sure that u give the car to the dentar with all accessories removed and kept at home. otherwise they misplace parts and then ask you to find and buy new ones.
