Charade G-10 Maintenance - Experts help needed!

I have got a charade G10 (1982). It needs some work;

1. Engine:
   Weak and needs rings! And it doesn't start on petrol, but car runs pretty good on CNG even with weaker engine.

2. What to do for smooth running? Steering and front wheels are good but it gives shaky ride even at 50km/h. What could be the trouble?

3. Electrical works

4. Wiring is not in good shape (but it's not too bad!); how much does new wiring cost? Or I should just repair the wires using connectors etc?

5. Tail lite repairing

6. Speedo meter not working plus there's no lite in meters.

7. Other works:

8. Door service (lock and window etc)

9. CNG switch is dead, there's no lite!

I'm not an expert, and i have very limited budget. I want to get maximum work done under 25k.

Please suggest me:

* Good and honest mechanics (for all these works)

• Where i can find spare parts at best price?

• Some idea of parts price and mechanic charges

• Any other valuable advice.

Radiator pipes need replacement

Hand brake cable broken

best way would be to take out the dashboard, fenders and bonnet and front fascia - then repair all the wiring properly. All wiring faults in cars in Pakistan are under the dashboard or in the engine room (ustaadi of electricians) its very very simple in a G10 - the relays (when used) are placed very stupidly though.

remove any tape twist jobs and if you can replace repaired wires with one piece it will be great as the result would be very neat. The mechanical bits for this car are somewhat a PITA - e.g. if you have the really old G10 with front drum brakes, you will probably learn an entire lughat of gaaliyan before you are done.

The engine and trans is simple - like kindergarten simple, just take apart and lay everything like it came out. For handbrake cables - you will refer to the lughat again, there are three cables in total, one from the lever going back to an automatic compensator on the rear beam then one for each wheel from there, all this will only work when the cables are in good shape, their clevis not jammed with rust or the little spindles in the rear drums are not jammed solid.

Handbrake cable is broken, I checked it. And yes, I know the procedure to replace the handbrake cable but it needs lot of effort and tool (I don't have tool kit) which is not easy for a beginner like me :o

No, now the car has front wheel disk brake the brake system was upgraded by previous owner. But today I noticed, when I applied the brakes first and second times, there was some noise from front wheel. However, no noise sounded after 5 minutes, even I applied brakes much harder but it worked well without any noise! Is it normal?

Yes, dashboard needs to be removed because it the fan is working but demist function is not working

The wires can be connected by using these things

And this is the simplest thing, and cheaper as well! Why to use damn sticky and messy plastic tape?

the original spade connectors and the casings are very easily available, ask in a proper spare parts market, the connectors you posted are not correct and will make a very messy setup. use solder and heat shrink tubing its the best and IMO the only correct way to repair it.

yes - exactly, the heat shrink reacts immediately with a lighter - to burn the wires you would need to hold the flame to the wires purposefully to burn them, unless your wiring insulation is worse than some "chaudhry cables" or "mongrel lu hong" etc that use recycled plastic bags and other trashy plastic as insulation.

Got handbrake cable @ 750 :o from Al-Qamar Autos, Saddar RWP.

Radiator pipes @ 350 (both, lower & upper)

400 rs charges for ustaad jee. The pipes were in very bad condition. . .

Now I'm facing a problem this thing is cutting the radiator pipe rite now I've inserted a rubber piece to protect it. Shall I remove the damn thing?

I think your car has a wrong radiator, the original radiator has metal tanks but is exactly the same shape as G11 radiators, the upper pipe should sit somewhat right in the middle of the upper tank. if its to the side then the pipe would hit the valve cover, btw there is supposed to be a springy metal clip there to hold the pipe in place and there is supposed to be foam insulation between that clip and pipe.It seems like the clip has been damaged, and the remains are what you see tearing the pipe. btw the valve cover is incorrect for a CB20 engine.
