AOA,
Just wondering what remedies you all have for chassis rust? I've been looking at Land Rover Discovery I and II but so far my interest has been kept at bay my horror stories of chassis rust (I believe things got better after the 2002 'face lifted' model).
I like the first gen Discos becaue they are simple machines - meat and potatoe SUVs - not overly electricky or aimed at the luxury SUV market like later incarnations.
In the UK and elsewhere people have access to galvanized chassis and rust preventive treatments like Waxoyl. I wonder what the local alternative to these options (if any) would be? Welding sheet metal only goes so far, or fabricating/replacing a bulk head (this should resonate with Defender owners). I am talking about LRs whose chassis are prone to major rust.
I would appreciate your valuable input - especially from Discovery owners. Thanks!
