AoA! Toyota Vitz 1999 got overheated, replaced head gasket, valves etc.After repair showing Check Engine Light.Meter check shows code 0340 " Camshaft position sensor circuit problem". Electrician checked and says Camshaft sensor , wiring , PC are OK. Now what could be the problem?
The mechanic who did job says Timing Belt setting is OK. Pls advise. ..

Did you replaced the sensor just for the sake of confirmation that your own sensor is fine ?

Yes , electrician tried two other camshaft sensors but got same response

code 0340 literally says circuit problem, check the wiring - its damaged.

0340 nothing to do with cam sensor ...some wiring issue .....

Is it possible camshaft or Timing chain not installed properly , resulting in Code 0340? ( maybe that's why sensor not getting reading and showing 0340 )..

That will cause a no start on modern engines, and it will pop a tdc code too, it will also have a p0011 code which timing too advanced (usually a stuck variator pulley)

0340 is a wiring fault, which can involve the connector being broken or the sensor internal windings being broken or faulty.

This being Pakistan Im 100% sure - the replacement sensor being mentioned is a scrapped sensor.

I visited Mr Zahid workshop, they checked and told no problem with wiring etc, then I visited a mechanic & readjusted it's timing chain,problem not resolved.Finally I visited another electrician, he managed to rectify fault by adjusting iVTEC sensor,replacing cam sensor & repairing cam sensor wiring attached to ECM.
