Checking car manufacture year

How do I check a car's manufacture year? One person is selling Jan 2007 honda Civic eagle eye old shape (not current one) and I am a bit confused because as far as I know this model stopped production in 2006!? Or may be I am wrong and this is one of the last produced cars....or it could be that car was manufactured in 2006 but registered in 2007?

So I want to know how can I check in which year it was manufactured? I heard you can check markings on seat belts or other items so tell me.

Suppose if it is 2006 manufactured then shall we call it 2006 mode or 2007 (it was registered in Jan 2007)??

Also tell me what will be price of 22000KM Honda City 2006 Manual....neat and clean ride...give me rough idea

In corollas remove the ashtray.at the back theres a small sticker,similar to ordinary price tags of groceries,on it carrying the date of manufacture.but a pt to remember is dat if a part has a certain date it is not necessary dat its da manufacturing date of car.lets say seat belts are made in nov 2008.the car can stil be a 2009 model.

dear both informations are provided in the original document that company issues with car and same is present in E xcise and taxation office in car's file and on registartion book owner carries with him.My car's manufacturing year is mentioned 10th dec 1999 but model as 2000.Both info is clearly written in the file and also on new car's registration book.By the way i think the new registartion book of NWFP is really nice and advance.

You chould check,the registartion book will clearly indicate the car's model(thats what is important) and also the year of registartion as " car first registerd to mr.xyz on 12-34-56 (dd-mm-yy).

Dont pay any thing to anyone,if the model is say 2006 and person is explotiong you by saying that its 2007 registered,You could ask,you should have got your car register on time and its crime to drive car with registration(a common practice,unfortunately)

@@ Techman!! Your question is interesting!! Few years back, i bought a car, along with the all documents!! Indus motor gave me an original invoice, that was in my name!! At the bottom/middle of the invoice it was written that "This car is made in 2005" This is the best evidence. I am not sure in case of honda or suzuki and also in case of leased car!! but i think at the original invoice of honda and civic, this thing is also written!! You must ask from the owner to give/show you the original invoice!!

I will check my registration book!! i think, manufacturing year is also written on the book!! irrespective of registration date!!

Befoer booking for my new xli, i was also looking for the last model of prevoius shape of civic that was 2006 ! i am quiet confident that honda civic previous shape was not made after 2006!! In your case, the car could be of 2006 but registered in 2007. You are lucky if u geting this one which was registered in 2007! becoz, registration also matters in resale!! Model ofcourse remain of 2006, becoz, i guess shape changed in late 2006 or early 2007!!

Thanks everybody. Yes bluespark and oero2009 I guess I will ask the owner to show me original file/invoice papers.
I don't think manufacturing year is mentioned in registration book.
