Most Tiggo 8 owners are still on their original Cooper tires. I have not been so lucky. I bought the car used with 12000km on the car and by 18000, I noticed that the tire tread was dangerously low. This could be blamed on the car not being in proper alignment. So after exhaustive research on the web, I decided on Continental Premium Contact 6 which, by some testing facilities was given the tire of the year award 2022.
I don't know what the problem was, but from the first moment these tires had very little grip on the road which became worse with the passage of time. If these were old and hard tires I would have understood but the date code on the tires was 2022. Anyhow since they were about Rs. 60,000 /- per tire, I decided to pull along with them and see what happens. After about a year and with the car now at 50,000km, the tires had become dangerous. Twice I the car tried to spin out of control as it was on the exit ramp of a flyover. I have to give the Chery Anti Skid control full marks. The system took over and applied individual tire brakes to correct the skid and easily bring the car back in control.
Rason to tell this story is to help other Tiggo 8 owners to select a good tire when it comes time to replace the factory tires. My nod goes to Yokohama BluEarth AE61 tires for your car. I have found these to really suit the Tiggo 8 quite well. Now with the Yokohamas, there is good grip, wheel spin at full acceleration from standstill is there but well controlled and cornering grip is also improved.
