Tiggo 8 in South Africa is CBU I believe, so surely there should be some respite for us here if they are launching CKD? But of course.. Competitive CKD prices are a distant dream for us.

They are ckd's in south africa same as in Pakistan and other right-hand driving markets.

Can't find any reference to assembly plants in South Africa. Their Wikipedia lists a bunch of plants around the world including Pakistan, but no South Africa.

It Is a CBU . Import from China .Chery SA has entered the market as a wholly owned subsidiary of Chery China . Chery vehicles arrived in SA late 2021 with TIGGO 4 then Tiggo 7 pro and recently Tiggo 8 pro.

Price revealed, 6,599,000 for the Tiggo 8 Pro. On one hand, I'm disappointed at it not being an industry disrupting price, considering the tough competition they face in this segment. On the other hand, at least it's not 7 million as previously quoted. It is however a genuine 7 seater crossover and should be compared with Sorento. Regardless of everything, the only thing that can make Tiggo truly successful is on time deliveries and after sales service. Nothing else matters.

Also important to note that Chery is offering virtually a lifetime warranty in South Africa (1 million km), and here they have chosen to offer the standard 150k/4 years warranty. Which may be subject to further terms and conditions.

Pata nai ye Chinese kya chah rahain hein. Aik tho naam Cherry uper se 66 Lac invoice, Changan ko bhi Chargaan se confuse kiya ja raha hai (chargan means chickens in pashto). But all in all, 6M for this would've been bang for the buck. Almost 7M onroad is toooooo much.

That's what i feel. 6 million on road price, with price held for at least a year and quick CKD deliveries, that would have been the way to go to capture market share. Huge gap in the market for real value for money offering.

Apni 50 100 garian bech ker chalay jayenge. Yahan 68 wali sorento koi nhi le reha tha ye kese bike gi.

Sorento didn't sell because of outdated shape, and when it was launched the price was too close to Fortuner. But people have been buying it now on the discounted prices despite the unappealing MPV like shape.

Not saying the pricetag is justified but with the way prices of all vehicles are increasing (Civic RS is now 6.5 million), I'd buy whatever I need asap.

Rule of thumb: The best time to buy a car in Pakistan was yesterday, the second best time is right now.

Changan and Suzuki pricing going up as well.

Chery pricing will also go up in few weeks time. Obviously terms and conditions also matter. I see a price increase of 250K for Tiggo 8.

In case of Honda, I think some % of increase is also applicable if made full payment.

Seriously considering booking this right away, but these people are too strategic, launched on a weekend so genuine buyers can't book, meanwhile I'm sure 'investors' have already gotten the full quota.
