Hello PW's .... I live in Abbottabad, which is of-course hilly area ... I am interested in buying Chevrolet Aveo as i have seen in PW here is the car

I think this is the best deal and the best car i can get in this price tag better then all the car's in this category!!!

But there are few point i want to clearfy first

1.Is this car good for hilly areas!!! Its ground clearance?
2.Its spare-parts?
3.Market Value?

Yes this is a very good car indeed!
About ground clearance, i must say that it has average height, secondly spare parts are expensive. bmw7series can give you more details as he owns one
As a serious advice, come on man be a volunteer and give it a try we have to bring in new culture.

In Chevrolet, Optra is much better than Aveo, GM uses DOHC 16 valve 1.6 in it, in Aveo uses single cam 2 valve /cyl 1.5 not much campareable with rivals,slow in accelration & torque, parts problem also a issue, better to by Optra in manuel, or, Corolla 1.6 Se saloon, manuel trans works better on hill side roads.

The Daewoo is a good car considering the price, not for a new one, but if you can get one second hand.

1), Unless you plan on going on really bumpy and bad roads, it should have enough ground clearance for daily driving, the ground clearance is approx 180mm, while a corolla's ground clearance is 155mm approx (as reported by respective manufacturers).

2)Since it's being marketed directly by Chevrolet Pakistan, parts availability should not be an issue, spare part prices are a different story).

3) No idea about the market value, but you should be able to find a slightly used one quite cheap, since it essentially is an out of market car (even though i might be wrong about this last one.

Now thats the thing ... you made me happy brother .... i also have a discussion with my friend about it he told me to go for corolla but i said no .... If we compare this with Honda Civic Or Corolla ... i think it have got better interior and quality as compared to both of them... If i could get my these point clear that would be better for me ... In style and looks its the best but don't know about its performance ..... If anybuddy could help me ....

Good advice but if we could see i can get 2005 model of optra in this price tag but if i go for Aveo then i can buy 2008 model .... and which i think would be better then that 3years old car ... what do ya think !!!

This is the way we can break the monopoly of local car manufacturers. one day we'll have too many options to select from. If you are satisfied, then go for it and give a damn about what people say.

Buy an Altis 2005 or VTI 05, if new, buy the City Manual or GLI.

Do not know about breaking the monopoly but the poster will make a deep hole in his pocket.

If you can afford to buy a car at 950 grands and after a couple of years sell it at 500 grands just for the sake of driving pleasure then I would suggest why buy a used car, why not a new one.

Also keep this fact in mind before buying that there is only one car up for sale in the whole country. What does this mean? Either the owners like it to much and don't want to sell it or there are only a few cars running in this country out of which one is for sale or the offered price for this car is so low that owners who bought new from the company prefer to use it untill scraped.

Also keep this fact in mind that if you buy such a unique car, atleast "Mustana mistri" can't repair it . You will have to tow the car for 125Kms and take it to Chev's Islamabad.

I think monopoly of local manufacturers can be broken only when people buy new cars from new companies instead of buying new cars from established locals. Trends change when rich people buy new brands and after a couple of years use sell those to ordinary buyers at a cheap rate. Then gradually when a lot of vehicles are visible on road, people easily accept the change. It happened with Honda. It was launched in 1994 I guess and till 2005 there was not much resale for these cars still due to new models comming out and attractive shape and features. Rich buyers kept on buying these cars and today you can see that people are no more worried about Honda's resale.

As far as used car is concerned, companies damn care about its sale.

Spare parts is the only issue as the dealership is always out of the important spares and has to request them from karachi which can take some time and I am talking about islamabad.

A friend blew his Optra's radiator and was unable to find or source one out of islamabad, had ot get it from Karachi. The parts at the dealership, when available, are really expensive.

sir ground clearance achi hy if u dont install CNG.. agr CNG karani hy then kuch packings dalti hyn rear shocks main to lift up the car.. hilly areas ka main ek week baad answer de sakun ga bcoz abi tak hm kisi hilly area main gari nai le kar gye but v r going in 2days.. hm northern areas jaen gy so will tell u its response. spare parts ki baat hy to they are now much widely available nd price wise they are near to honda.. masla ye hy k do number cheap parts nai milty.... market value is not much good bcoz logon ko abi zada pata nai is gari ka.. i advice u that agar ap aveo lete hyn to CNG par mat lyn bcoz CNG par it create problems and fuel consumption kadi zada ho jati hy.. we installed CNG but then disconnected it and now days we r driving it on petrol without even a single problem.. good mechanics can repair it.. zaruri nai k ap dealership par le kar jaen.. baqi car is awesome.. fit features hyn.. and very much stronger aur road grip allaaa hy.. we had an accident with 22 wheeler lorry.. car was much damaged from outside but inside was 100% safe..
