This is not Chevy!!! Matter of fact his is Suzuki Forenza. Chevy is marketing with their brand name; so buy it with confidence, its very reliable car and parts are gona be available soon in the local market because it's built by Suzuki. chevy has old habit of this doing.

My friends, Optra is not made by Chevy or Suzuki.
In this capitalistic society it is one corporation that owns all these brands.
GM=General Motors (USA)
GM owns the below car companies in case you didnt know:
Buick,
Cadillac,
Chevrolet,
GMC,
Holden,
HUMMER,
Oldsmobile,
Opel,
Pontiac,
Saab,
Saturn
and Vauxhall.
In some countries, the GM Group distribution network also markets vehicles manufactured by GM Daewoo, Isuzu, Fuji (Subaru) and Suzuki.

So thats thats the inner truth. Alot of these cars share the same parts as well.

My dear friend kaloo that was a heck of information you provided us with, thanks 4 that. But a single thing that bugs my mind is that why would GM motors which is an AMERICAN company, market a JAPNESE vehicle, don't these countries have their own distribution networks after all they are some market capturers in many countries.

Yeah see, its not just Japanese companies.
For example SAAB is a Swedish company and Opel is german.
But for some reason different countries market their vehicles in different ways.
I.E. Mitsubishi Pajero is called Shogun in the UK and EU.
But in the US its called Montero.
They r all exactly the same cars built on same chassis etc. But i guess it all has to do with marketing and how the peoples tastes are.
To answer your question why GM is distributing Suzuki, thats because in the US maybe only 15% of the population have heard of suzuki cars. Even if more have heard of it, few trust the name.
However, GM is a trusted name and has been around for decades in the US. Hence everyones happy. From GM to Suzuki to the customer

The Optra in Pakistan is Korean assembled by Daewoo motors

Mr. Omer Arshad is right. The Optra being marketed in Pakistan is imported from Korea by Nexus Automotive. The Korean company Daewoo was taken over by GM and renamed GM Daewoo Automotive and Technology (GMDAT). Now the Daewoo brand is slowly dying outside Korea. In Korea, I think, this vehicle is called GM Daewoo Lanos. If you people remember the Daewoo Matiz, that is also being marketed as Chevrolet Spark in the international market nowadays. So, I guess, all the Daewoo vehicles will now be marketed as Chevrolet vehicles outside Korea.

As of 25th December 2004, Daewoo is now known as GM Daewoo or Chevrolet. Either way, owned by GM Motors now. Their assembly and manufacture may still be in their parent countries though.
