MG (India)'s first SUV to be named Hector!
Chinese owned MG Auto will be making cars in India beginning in April this year at the SAIC owned car plant in Gujarat. The plant is GM-SAIC jointly owned and sold SAIC cars in india till recently under the Chevrolet brand. Right now Chevrolet BEAT cars are manufactured in this factory for the US market till Chevrolet rejigs it's lineup for india as the chinese cars didn't sell well enough.
This is the second attempt by a Chinese manufacturer to enter the indian market and their first car is a compact SUV named Hector to be priced in the 10-15lac range , expectedly. Formal launch is imminent within the next two months and a sedan and hatchback line will follow if sales look promising. That's all i have for now and all info on this launch is in the public domain and can be searched.
I will be checking out the Hector and other MG cars on display at my local area mall in Chennai this weekend
