In case of MAP sensor failure, check engine light must on,however below i am mentioning the function and clean up procedure of MAP sensor,
The manifold absolute pressure sensor, or MAP sensor, is used to measure the amount of air flowing through the intake system and into the engine. The sensor sends airflow rate data to the engine control unit, or ECU, which can then adjust the air-to-fuel ratio for optimum fuel combustion. Over time, the MAP sensor can become dirty with contaminates or dust in the air. When this happens you'll need to clean the sensor.
1. step 1<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>
Open the hood and locate the MAP sensor. MAP sensors are located near the intake manifold. The exact location varies depending on the year and model of vehicle. The sensor itself is a small black box.<o:p></o:p>
2. Step 2<o:p></o:p>
Remove the electrical plug running to the MAP sensor. Squeeze the release tab on the top of the plug and pull the connector off.<o:p></o:p>
3. Step 3<o:p></o:p>
Remove the screws holding the MAP sensor in place and remove the sensor.<o:p></o:p>
4. Step 4<o:p></o:p>
Turn the sensor upside down on a flat surface so that the sensor end of the MAP sensor is exposed.<o:p></o:p>
5. Step 5<o:p></o:p>
Spray the sensor liberally with electronic parts cleaner. Remove any visible signs of dust or other contaminates. The electronic parts cleaner will evaporate, so there is no need to wipe it down.<o:p></o:p>
6. Step 6<o:p></o:p>
Re-install the MAP sensor.
Hope it will be helpful to u.
