City 1.2 CVT vs Swift GLX CVT vs City 1.5 CVT (NOT ASPIRE)

Please help me reach my purchase decision between:

1. Suzuki Swift GLX CVT (51 Lac)
2. City 1.2 CVT (49 Lac)
3. City 1.5 CVT (55 Lac)

I'm a university student. Alone traveling mostly, on Lahore Ring Road. Sometimes parents visit from abroad and will drive same car. Dad is not in favor of used cars.

City
• Lesser features, even in 1.5 CVT. No push start. No climate control.
• Thin tires I hear.
• Honda is brand.

Swift has all features but is of Suzuki. I hear not good plastic quality.

Please help me reach purchase decision.

Bro do think about Honda Grace Hybrid 2016-2017 model. This would cost around 4 million and much better then at these options

This purchase will not be your "forever" car. I am guessing you will keep this car for 3-4 years. Hence you need to look at practicality, resale, fuel costs, reliability and so on rather than looks, performance, comfort etc. The swift has a hatch back so it is good in the load carrying department - that is if you needed to move a sofa or chairs. The others have a trunk so 2 suitcases plus 5 people can sit in them.

New Toyota Corolla 1.6 Altis is 59 lacs. Might be out of your budget but it will sell immediately without loosing much value

City 1.5 CVT is the most practical option. Excellent power to weight ratio and good fuel economy on highways. The interior is also spacious.
My 2nd preference would be Swift. The only reason I place Swift below City is due to its CVT, which is developed by Jatco. Very poor reliability record worldwide. If you want Swift, better go with manual.

when corolla was hot cake.now a days .. car has been taking long time..

my firend bought grande as investment when price reduced ... he thought ke abhi le loo investment hy .. after putting ads on pakwheel , olx , gari.pk he sold the car finallly
less then invoice price ..

59.7 lac invoice price without all taxes has 0 featurs and plust MT ..its just a car with engine and ac and seats.

I checked that for Alsvin Lumiere resale
People who bought in 2.9M 2022 model now they're selling in 3.8M /4.0M.

Same i checked for Yaris who bought new and drive few kilometers now they're selling less than invoice.

I think need to take a breath after purchase then sell it it would be greater than invoice.

Selling second hand or a new car. It may seem that one is making more money compared to the original buying price. But in real terms the price has made a loss. Take the example of the Lumiere you have mentioned: Brand new showroom price is 45.49 lacs. So in real terms the replacement cost is 0.74M/0.59M. Meaning one will have to add 6-8lacs if one had to replace the same Lumiere.

Depends on how you define long term. Easiest to sell are still Toyota, but then you're paying at least PKR 1 million up front compared to Alsvin Lumiere or compromising on features.

So you have to ask yourself if you'd rather sell your car for like 5 lac extra several years down the line and have a relatively basic experience right now or have a decent to good experience with features and comfort for several years but not potentially recover as much on resale?

The answer is different for everyone so you have to decide for yourself. Owning both Yaris and (two) Alsvin Lumiere, I know I'd go for another one as well if I had to

I'd opt for a Honda City 1.2 CVT. It's Slightly cheaper than the Swift, which could be a factor if budget is a concern. Besides, Honda engines are known for their efficiency and longevity.
