City 2009, rpm not stable

I own a Honda city 2009 model and the RPM of my car keeps falling below 650, and the engine vibrates as if it will shut down. Furthermore even if I pressdown the accelerator there are still evident vibrations before the engines seems to stabilize at 1500rpm. Showed this to the mechanic, got a new throttle body but the problem persists. If this were due to some faulty sensors it would show up as the check engine light, but since it doesn't I'm assuming the sensors are working fine. Would anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Check Ignition coils and plugs. A faulty ignition coil can cause unstable rpm.

I apologise for my lack of knowledge but I'm new to this and I'll answer to best of my abilities, it's I-DSI manual, only work on the engine been changing the piston rings a year ago, mileage is 1lakh 60 thousand, and I use normal petrol.

I have the 4th gen Honda city the 2007-8 model, and it was second hand, i am not sure of the oil. Thank you very much for your advice it helps alot!!

Had similar problem with mine. I got throttle body cleaned and attached computer to re learn idle. It works perfect now. Did you get idle relearn with computer? here in sgd they charge only Rs300 for it. Give it a try it might help you.

honda city has no idle learn through computer all is to disconnect baterry and switch on car as soon as check engine light goes off start the car and maintain 2500rpm until radiator fan comes on release pedal and let car running for 10 minutes.switch off the car all is done.

Incorrect relearn procedure. The tps must read default value e.g. 9% while relearning, meaning u need to switch off all electrical loads and let go off the accelerator completely. Depressing the gas pedal will distort the figures

I highly disagree with you.
Whatsoever it is. I tried that method but it didn’t work for me. I got it done with computer and alhumdulillah its working perfectly fine so far.

rpmat idle@ 700-900 doesn,t mean your idle learning is done. your base ignition timing should be 8 degree more or less

i have honda him and in hds when comes to idle learn process of city i have todo this procedure and after completion have to check ignition timing in hds.

Apologies for replying late, also i wanted to wait till the problem was fully solved, and it is. Since I am somewhat restricted with actually tampering with my car I had to wait and see what the mechanic would do. First he changed the throttle body, no use, then he says the tapets need adjustment, no use, turns out one of the fuel injectors was loose. Now it works perfectly.

I greatly appreciate everyone's advice as I have learned a couple of things I wasn't aware of and hopefully better diagnose my car without relying on the mechanics hopefully..
