Yes they should be equal. Bcoz one is above 1300cc category (1339cc) and second is below 1500cc category (1496cc). Both fall in same bracket.

My 1.5 MT does 11.5 to 12.8 kmpl in Lahore depending on traffic congestion. On other cars I drive with light foot but when I am driving 1.5 city you just can't help yourself pushing the paddle. It just takes off. So I would say the above mileage is with heavy foot. On motorway I got 15.5kmpl with speeds 120kmph. i have noticed that the optimum speed to achieve best economy is 80-100kmph
