I have a Manual VTi since 3 years now mashALLAH, and trust me once you own a good car, a few km in the mileage doesnt hurt you that much, upgrading from a Gli to a 1.8 VTi would be enough, although it is your concern, the mileage, i believe it completely depends on your driving pattern, i drive at normal speeds in my car, 60-70km/hr at tops, and once a month i drive my car to around 160km/hr over a stretch of a good 5 kms, and im pretty pleased with the mileage, although ive never really calculated it formally, but as long as the car is puting a smile on my face, these minor things dont really matter.
