vtec will still rock. as that vvti generates 140bhp as compared to 130bhp of vtec. vti can kill 1.8L vvti due to its lesser weight. i think so:P

don't be like Honda Lover...talk technically ok...the 1.8 1ZZ-FE can create approx 135Hp on 60000rpms whereas vti can do 125hp on 6,600rpms
grow up and talk technically...

BUT have u ever heard torque? the force that actually moves the car!
Vti produces 146, where as new 1.8 ALTIS has 171!!!

so that differece of 25NM is enought to beat slightly modded civics

Like tech_wiz said, theres alot of difference between the Civc's and Corolla...corolla having the edge here but even as many say that the civic is lighter, it doesnt make any difference.

The Civic even if lighter could not win cuz the corolla has more torque than the Civic.

So, Corolla will rule ........

@smartyasad:...what ur tryingto say...technically its all about what...what u think that 6000rpms does'nt meant it....a car creating lets suppose 100bhp on 5500rpms wheras the same car having same power to weight ratio creates 100bho on 6200rpms...both are 1.3L and of same weight...which car 1st do 0-100km/hr...
just washup ur mind and think again...6000rpms comes first..so it creates its max hp....this all matters that's why i said think technically don't be a Honda Freak....

1.8 vvti Twin Cam (DOHC) engine; certainly stronger and more efficient than the so-called vtec SOHC honda engine. yeah, honda is a kid in front of world's no 1 car manufacturer(Toyota)!

actually the corolla is 150 hp@6000 rpm and the civic is 120 or 125 hp................ the automatic corolla can easily beat civic due to its gate type transmition.in this transmition you dont have to push clutch after 2nd gear.civic is nothing in front of automatic corolla
