Civic 2008 power steering replacement

I recently bought the car 2 months ago and everything was fine but I noticed the power steering fluid level was low. I knew that the fluid could be dirty but being low must mean there is a leak. I took the car to honda drive in and naturally they suggested replacing every part till the leak stopped. I just bought the honda PSF and I would check every morning and top up the oil as necessary. However a few weeks back the car developed a whine as I pressed the gas and I took it to a mechanic my friend sees (who also has a civic) the mechanic said that now the motor which will caused 27k has to be replaced along with a pipe which will cost 8-14k. Took her to the dealership and they told me the same albeit they said the pipe will cost around 3k. My question is there a cheaper alternative? The power steering works fine just there's a whine that's now constant even when I don't press the gas. The fluid is still very dark, should I flush the system and hope the noise goes away? Or should I start saving up?

might be a bit of a hassle but a trip to your local junkyard for parts will be worth it, they shouldn't cost more than 10k for the motor (or atleast 15k in total)

also, if you want peace of mind then go to honda dealership and get the work done with guarantee.
thirdly, if you still have doubts then take the car to a few more mechanics and tell them psf is leaking and nothing more. get them to try and pin point the issue first (wishful thinking) but don't believe anything they say.

Get the pipe replaced it cost 2k from bg and chanes the psf completely and see if the sound goes away m...its good if it goes away
Btw i the motor costs from 5k to 7k from bg i got it arnd a month ago for 6k

many of the power steering mechanics are offering Electronic Power Steering that can be installed in many cars
CIVIC 2001 to reborn has power steering leakage issue.
You can discuss the mechanic to replace the steering with Electronic one

It is only because if you use any other psf than honda. Most of people here use atf dex3 or local psfs they donot work with honda units. Honda psf has very high quality additives which keep ps working smoothly. This is only for honda.

And yes it can be converted to eps aswell the cost will vary between 30k to 35k including wverything

Just check with ur local market everything will be availible the price difference will beof max 2k between the ciries not more

A pill that's sweet could be candy and candies don't fix things. Do it once and do it right. If you find something worthwhile in the local used market go for it if not, better swallow the real pill. If you are into experimenting then convert to EPS but I will never recommend that. The hydraulic Power Steering setup of 8th gen Civic aka Reborn is the sweetest of it's traits.
