I own civic 2018. Recently I faced steering wheel rack issue, I took car to showroom. After checking they informed me that this is common problem in car and work will be done under warranty. After the job was completed i took the car, on my way handbrake and ABS light appeared. After parking the car, I identified that handbrake is not working. I took the car back to showroom next day, after detailed inspection they told me ABS is not working and needs to be replaced. They qoutated around 2lacks to fix it. Before giving car to showroom ABs was working fine. Kindly advice is this common problem with steering rack replacement ? Also if I their is any good workshop available that can do ABS work.
Mention your city.
Karachi
Hi there. Nothing is wrong with the ABS. Your car just needs to get reprogrammed. The showroom folks didn't check the diagnostics after the steering rack job.
Get your car to some diagnostics guy and ask him to reprogram the brake settings. The lights would go away and the E-brake will start working back.
P.S. please mention which showroom you took your car to
Yes I agree, I thought they might have damaged the wires. I got them checked, I also got electrical motors for braking they are ok as well.
Do you have any recommendations for diagnostic person ?
I took car to Honda South ( Korangi)
It probably needs a recal if the eps was worked on as the steering angle sensor feeds the abs unit with the angle of where the steering is.
They need to check if they messed up the zero position of the steering angle. If the angle is correct then a recalibration is done where the system measures and learns the lock to lock turns of the steering wheel.
